Tru,

You could save even more with a bucket and very long rope. Our meters read in cubic feet and I have never bothered to convert it over to gallons but I average using 400/800 cubic feet per month. Mostly in the 450/550 range.

One cubic foot contains 7.48 gallons of water. One gallon of water weighs 8.34 pounds.

450/550 = 3,366/4,114 gal.

Fred,

I knew that if I posted that one of you would post the figures and I wouldn't have to get up and go get my conversion tables. Thanks.

After your dogs dragging you around the block,I didn't think you'd be up to crawling across the room to get the tables.

I take them on separate walks. Frenchy wants to run all the way and it is just right at 8/10ths of a mile around the loop we take. I can't run that far as my hip starts hurting and I have to make him walk for short distance until the hip eases off.

Sweetheart doesn't like to run and her legs are much shorter so I walk her around the loop. She will run when she sees a cat or another dog ahead of us but even then all I have to do it trot to keep up. I take her last so I can use that time to get my breath back.

I am testing out a new phone we are making. It is kind of a pain to navigate with being a touch screen with no stylus. other than that typing this is pretty easy. an occasional double letter but not bad.

Yep pretty much looks just like the Iphone. This is on AT&T as well, but we already have one on Sprint. T-Mobile is launching one almost just like it as well. It works pretty good for those other features. Phone part is easy to use. A lot easier than I thought it would be. At first I did not like it, but now that I am getting used to it, it is pretty nice.

GMW
OMG - its 39°F outside. I hope it did not freeze last night. I have too many tomatoes on the vine!

Yesterday it got up to 62°F but the house was only at 63°F when I got up. The sun really was bright, and the temp on the back porch got up to 100°F at 11AM when I turned on the window fan. When I shut off the fan at 4 PM, the temp in the house was 73°F.

Used my new pressure washer yesterday on the vinyl siding on the front of the house. Got rid of all the green moss - front of house faces north. Boy, did it do a great job, including me getting soaked.

All of the posts about water usage got me interested.

Over the last 3 years, my water usage has been almost identical per year. It averages out to be about $29 per month for 2100 gallons used. Its really nice to have all the figures in Quicken. Makes it easy to find out things like this.

This includes both water usage and sewerage. The city calculates that 70% of your water consumption goes thru the city sewer pipes. They charge different rates for each.

I do not water the lawn. Never. I do water the veggies and some of the flowers in the good weather, but it is usually done with a watering can. Oh, I almost forgot. I live on a huge house lot - 5000 sq ft or 0.12 acre.

Do any of you that reported water usage also pay for sewerage in the same bill like me? Or is it separate?

Just started a new thread in the lounge regarding Acorn. The $hit is hitting the fan this morning.

Warren,

My electric, water, sewer, and garbage bill all come on the same bill but each is broken down into a separate amount showing usage for last month and this month. Then there is a chart on the side that shows usage for the year per month. That way you can just glance at the years chart and see if anything has taken a huge jump such as Joe's water bill when the toilet was running all the time.

Aha! I thought your 11 to $17 a month was cheap, but it does not include sewer charges. If I strip out the sewer charges, my monthly water bill is probably about $17 a month.

My electric bill is like yours - reported usage per month per KW hours going back 12 months on every bill.

No garbage bill - its part of my real estate taxes. So I pay the same amount for my 2 barrels per week as compared to the family of 5 that has 6 kids and usually 10 barrels per week. Good plan.

$74 sprinklers on.

Warren,

You think our water is cheap. Look at what I use for that amount and at what others use and their bills are much less. Water and sewer here are completely different as there are still some places that use wells, so one has no bearing at all on the other. And we had water bills long before they finally put in a sewer system. Our sewer rate is a set rate which increases about every three months along with the electricity and garbage collection. Our garbage rates are based on what size can you have and how many.

I have too many bills.

Dang, 39 outside Warren? It has been that chilly more than a few times already.

I am waiting for ice.

I'm tired. Will someone please just give me a million dollars and tell me to retire...please.

Doesn't hurt to ask.

it makes me sick to see ya'll's water bills. i pulled out this months to write it out for ya'll, but it isn't that bad. it is somewhere. august/september ya'll wouldn't believe. Well Dave and Steve would, they've been to my house.... but wow ya'll would $hit a brick...... if ya'll saw it!
i'll look for the rates and type them in.....

my electric bill is incredible. i am embarrassed and overwhelmed to write what it is.
we have a lot of square footage, with a separate bill/meter for the workshop/guest house out back. all this $hit costs a lot of money.

those are the two bills that are pretty bad. my visa bill is also astounding.
money money money money money money...............

property is 1 1/3 acre. fully sprinklered, bedded, etc. pool.... on and on...............

david keeps it looking like a park. no lie. he wants it beautiful and green, he pays for it!
gotta go make a cake. chocolate. yum!!!!!!

My Hawaii house:

Electric - $250 app/ month with 850 Kwh/mo
Water - $90/mo with about $70 for sewer fees - 14k gal/ me watering with a hose.
Garbage is included in property taxes I think.
Gas - propane in a 100 lb tank - lasts for many years.
Texas house:

Electric - $240/mo with 2100 Kwh/mo (Now I turn off the A/C when gone,
should help there! I'll find out on the next bill.)
Water - was about $36/mo but went to $70/mo with front lawn sprinklers for
half of the 1+ acre lot.
Sewer - private septic no charge.
Gas - $18/mo
Garbage - not there long enough yet to sign up for it.

I'm hoping to spend more on gas for my Kirkham there in the near future!
Notice the difference in the electricity rates in Hawaii and Texas.
