Well fun dealing with the warranty service line for my Home builder again. We have been turning the AC on to keep the house comfortable during the day time for the cats (we have a new kitten, that was taken from his mother too soon and don't need him getting sick). When we got home after work last night, I heard what at first I thought was my neighbor using a circular saw in the back, but then I realized that either the board in the size of the back yard, or something else is going on. I walked around the corner and it is my AC unit. The fan is not turning and that is where the sound is comming from. I put my hands on it to lean over and look inside and I jumped back as it burned my hands. Not a real burn, but they were red for an hour. I went inside and shut it off, the temp was in the upper 80s so it wasn't too bad, but it needs to be fixed again. I finally got a hold of someone at 10:30 and got a call back at 12:00. I found it kinda funny. It was the same guy that lied to me back in May and I filed the BBB complaint on after dealing with him for a couple days. I would guess he remembers me as everything was Mr. Wieck, Yes Sir, Yes Sir, We will get it taken care of Sir. I will call the AC company right now and make it a priority Sir. Not 10 min later I got a call back and they will be out in the morning.
In one way I am glad that we did turn it on now as I likely would not have had it go out until it was freezing outside and we need the heater.

Joe,
I hope they get your unit fixed quickly. I have a contract that I have had for many years with the company that services mine and they come twice a year to check it out. The good thing about the contract is if something goes wrong and I call in they will send the first available repairman out to fix mine and people that don't have the contracts have to wait. I had to call them last year when the old thermostat went bad and they had a man here the next day to replace it. I have been running the heat a few minutes in the morning and the air conditioner a few minutes in the evening as our days are just starting to get cool at night and still a little on the warm side in the evenings.

Joe, ask the builder if he will cover the bill from a liscensed HVAC contractor.
Fred, by all accounts as told to me...you got no butt.
Good morning children. Play nice and don't cause me to have concern.

Hey ... no inside jokes on the Chat thread. You would not want to confuse anyone, would you? I still think that guy is you, and Miss K almost confirmed it.
Gee - the Dow is down only 240 points at 10:30 AM. Glad I bailed out a few weeks ago. Wish I was smart and bailed out a year ago.
Just gave Turtle the first coat of varnish on top after 3 coats on his bottom. Looking snazzy. He will blind those Humpin Ho sisters if they ever get up here again.
Overcast and 61°F. Guess I'll work around the house today.

Warren the above word in red should always be big so people can see what you are going to do. You always have driving in big letters.

You know, sometimes it is really irritating when you are right. AC guy showed up and guess what, first he said it was a service call and I was going to have to pay for it. I called and raised hell. I mentioned my previous issues with the builder and what I did, he suddenly realized who he was talking to and I could just about feel the pucker effect through the phone. But the AC guy did not have the parts to fix my system. Turns out that the seals in the fan motor were bad and the oil for the bearings leaked out. Pretty simple to figure out from there what caused the fan to stop turning. The excessive current damaged the cap, so now I am waiting for a new fan motor and cap to come in. He called in the order from the house so at least I know it was ordered.

Joe,
That is to bad but maybe at least it won't take to long for the new parts to get there. However if you are having that much trouble with them, maybe you should stay home that day and watch him put them in and make sure everything works before he leaves. I guess I am lucky as the company that takes care of mine is really good and reliable.

I plan on it. I really don't have any problems with the AC company but I am going to be sure that they do not screw me.. It is the builder that keeps trying to get one over on me. I am going to be sure to get them to check my freon levels in a few months right before my warranty expires. If it is low, they cannot say that there is no leak/the leak developed after the warranty expired.

Joe,
That checking of the freon is part of the contract I have with the company that I have take care of mine. They check that and all current flow, change filters, oil and clean the Air mover and check the electric motor in it for current draw and check the belt. The outside unit they do the same for except it has no belt. He takes the covers off and oils the fan motor, checks current draw to a couple of big capacitors, and the change over valve, then comes inside and does temperature readings at the intake and compares them to ones at the registers to make sure they are within the normal range. And as I said before I have the added benefit of getting priority treatment in case of a problem over others that don't have a contract. Plus they charge me a little less by having the contract. They send me a card twice a year that it is time for my check, once in the Spring and once in the Fall.

I have a window unit in my upstairs bedroom during the summer. About 6 years ago, the AC died. I just opened the window and it fell to the ground. Only broke a little of the plastic case. Dragged it to the street using the power cord for trash pickup ... and bought a new one. That's the best service contract.

Warren,
The way my windows are made I can't use a window unit here. If I could I would have one in the bedroom.

Eighth inning ... 3 more runs ... its a tie game.
Bottom of the ninth ... its party time.
Second biggest playoff comeback in history.

That is sick Warren, coating a turtles bottom.
I think Joe has the housing challenge for this week. Something is broken on his AC unit all the time.
Friday moring and I want to go home already.
Good morning HLC.

Warren,
That was a great game, but I thought the Tampa Bay manager was an idiot to take his starting pitcher out to save him for the World series. Those so called relievers they have looked as if they borrowed them from the Cardinals. I thought only St. Louis pitchers could blow a 7 run lead in 3 or less innings. They managed to do it 21 times last season. But it was a great comeback and the fans that left early are probably moaning about it this morning.

Just gave his top side the third coat this morning before breakfast. He is one smooth turtle. And I coated his bottom to stop any attacks from small critters (like frogs) eating his tender underbelly.

Wait a minute ... I just got a newsflash from Frenchy and the Humpin Ho sisters (and confirmed by Fred and HLC). They say you already ARE a .....
Time to go do some food shopping. Corned beef dinner tonight. As Miss K would always say .... YUM

Warren,
I think it is the commute that Tru would like to be shorter. Tru, when you think of that short drive to work, just imagine the people around here that drive 100 miles each way to work every day as there isn't up here any more and they can't afford to move to the city. At least my longest drive was 15 miles to the airport when I was working.
Have a great Friday.

Well, it looks like the moderators have had enough of the political BS threads. Thank goodness, I just hope the lounge does not get closed down because of those threads.
The name calling has really gotten out of hand.
10-15- was our twenty year anniversary. We had a great day. Spent all day together and did nothing.

Steve,
Congratulations on your 20 years. Glad you had a good time and hope that you have at least 20 more years of the same, but with better fortune.
