The way Tech played,I was amazed the Texas was able to come back and almost win.
Tech deserved that win 100%.
I'm a Longhorn and Josh is a Red Raider.
The text msgs and e-mails started last night and continue from them this morning.

Fred,
Shortly before the Texas game I watched the last few minutes of Michigan and North Western. Now there was an ending to make the replays. Even some of the Michigan players had stopped and thought the game was going into overtime. Kind of brought back memories of that all time great ending between California and Stanford.
Being ranked # 1 in any sport is hard because every team you play is really going all out as beating the # 1 ranked team would make their season regardless of how many games they lose. I agonize through all of the UCLA flops in basketball since John wooden retied.

Tru, every female is young compared to Ron. Chasing the dogs is a good excuse, though.

Turtle is too fast for me. I had to get him to run (OK, crawl) backwards so I could keep up with him.

Warren,
If you run the marathon this year at that pace and don't quit, you should win next years as you will be just a mile from the finish line when the others start. But you will have to speed up that last mile so they don't come around and pass you.

Looks like Tuesday & Wednesday are suppose to be good Cobra driving weather for Warren & Tru.
Not sure what Steve was up to last Thursday & Friday ! Besides causing earthquakes in his neighborhood.
Would you believe we had 2 earthquakes each of those days w/aftershocks !!! They averaged out at 3.5

Is Texas going to take Mexico with it when it breaks off and sinks? Gee, a whole 3.5. Mush have been terrifying. I will see if the Mt. Shasta Goddess can send you some 4+ ones as the 3 or less we don't even notice.

Oh Yea, GMW,
Lord do I hate this setting the clocks back an hour. Went to be at 9 PM and up at 11:30 PM. Dogs thing anything more than 2 hours sleep has wasted the whole day. I think I am going to take them to the vet and board them for a couple of nights so I can get some sleep. My body just does not adjust to time changes well.

Its 28°F outside. Time for a swim. At least tomorrow is going be be 65°F in the afternoon, so I think I'll take the Cobra down to the school so I can vote.
My hometown has 25,000 independents, 25,000 Dumbocrats and only 6,500 Republicans. Sometimes my vote feels like I'm trying to bail out the Atlantic Ocean.
They expect over 92% voter turnout in Quincy. What amazes me is seeing people waiting in line for 3 and 4 hours to vote early on TV. In my town, a long wait to vote would be 15 minutes. Guess that a lot of states need more voting booths.
Never got my time when I finished the NY marathon. They still cannot get those sundials to work at night.

Ron,
If the earthquakes hadn't been on the news.I never would have known.
They said it set off some car alarms.
When I heard 3.5.I remembered you saying that is about like BB walking across the your room.
Warren,
BB is taking some massage classes. You know the kind they walk on your back.

Warren,
The lines and people standing around is why I have voted at home for the past 30 years. I got on the permanent disability list and they just send me the ballots for all elections. Now up here since everyone is pretty scattered out, I heard they may try to get the county to let them just have mail in ballots for everyone. It would increase the number of people voting, but with the small amount we have it wouldn't make a lot of difference. Don't forget to cross over and support your boy TEDDY.
Fred,
Maybe the Earthquakes will shake some more oil loose. If it comes bubbling up in your front yard, you won't have to worry about watering and landscaping.

I've always thought that a oil well in the back yard adds a lot of Texas flavor.

Whew, Busy busy...
Yep we actually had three earthquakes. They were all centered about five miles south of the house here. No damage but it woke a lot of people up.
The ground shook at some friends house but not long. We did not feel a thing here. No damage at all.
The news said that there is a known fault line that runs through the area. We have known about it for many years. It is not an active fault, but a fault none the less. They said that due to all the drilling here for the natural gas may have changed the underground pressure, or activated the move. They do not expect any more. There have been some activity reported at the Lone Star Race Track (horse race track) for the last week that something wasn't right.

Steve,
Glad that you had no damage but normally a quake of that magnitude doesn't cause anything more than maybe a few broken glasses and things that may fall. Pull up a geological map of the planet that shows the known fault lines and look at it. The whole Earth looks like an egg with the shell cracked. There is a pretty big fault line that runs right under Times Square if I remember correctly.
What happens with all of the drilling and one of the fault lines opens up and all of the Texas oil goes underground and winds up out here where we have larger faults to hold it?

This is the first time in my lifetime that I know of. There may have been others but I cannot remember ever having one here.
I am sure someone will come up with a history of them but let's just say it doesn't happen enough for it to be a topic of conversation and there are no earthquake building regulations at all here.

I'm going to start calling my Cobra "earthquake" because I set of car alarms all the time. My record in 4 cars in a half mile in downtown Quincy. So much fun, I went back an hour later but only set off one alarm. Bummer.

Uhhhhhh no. Never have ... never will. The Tedasaurus is in the middle of his term. John Fitzgerald Kerry (or "Just For Kerry" as many people call him) is running for re-election.
But I'm voting for Freddie Douglass in a write-in campaign.
