Joe,

Check your manual on the mower first. Some of them say to not wash the mower with water or pressurized water. I think it has to do with how the seals are where the shaft that spins the blades comes down. The ones with built in cleaner plugs look a little different under there than mine that doesn't have them. So I don't wash under the housing on the one without them. Just turn it on its side and scrape any stuck grass and weeds off.

I tried the PAM methode once. It was good for about 30 minutes...then the clogging came back.

On the old mower that I use for the rough places I just leave a thin layer of the first wet weeds that stick to it on there and that seems to make the rest come off easy.

Well, the water tower is bascially done.

I worked my butt off this weekend.

If it isn't broke, wait it will break.

What is up with mice? They seem to want to live in the smallest areas. I found a nest in a plumbing tube. A feekin 1.5 inch piece of PVC. That is small.

Tru,

Now you can go back to work to rest. It was to hot here this weekend for me to do much. I was sick all day yesterday so just stayed inside where it was cool. I have to get to the post office today as I skipped the weekend.

"Beam me up, Scotty"
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) - The most well known "Star Trek" line, "Beam me up, Scotty" was never actually said in any of the Star Trek films. Instead Kirk said, "Scotty, beam us up."

Ron,
Thanks for the heads up. I did check my manual this weekend and it says to not use pressurized water to clean the blade area.

Joe,

I know that a couple of mine says don't use pressurized water to clean under them. I believe it has something to do with the seal that the shaft which turns the blade goes through. If it leaks a little water, that goes right into your engine and starts rusting I guess. Not sure, but I just turn those on their side and scrape off any stuck grass or weeds.

I am generally lazy afterwards and just leave it there. I know I should, but like I said, when I am done mowing, I get lazy.

Joe,

At least you get yours done before you get tired. I am just lazy and run down all the time. And this sudden high heat has really made me not feel like doing anything but laying inside where the air is cooler. It was so humid yesterday that I got sick to my stomach after about 20 minutes of shoveling and hauling some dirt and I almost had to cut my clothes off as they were just plastered to me from all of the sweat. I think all I am going to do for the remainder of my time here is eat and lay down.

No Ron, I get tired during, and just push through. I am young enough to do that still, but out of shape enough to really hate it. I am trying to loose some weight though and maybe I can do more like I used to before I hurt my ankle. I got out of shape after that and never really worked at loosing weight for very long. I am giving it another go though now.

Joe,

At least your ankle will get better. I have had the last shots that I can have in my hip and now since I can't afford the surgery I just have to live with that nerve and the pain from the hip to my knee. There are times it is hard for me to walk, let alone try to run, so I guess if I am going to lose weight it will all have to be done by not eating period. Just walking behind the mower causes me to limp for the next two days. And now the pain never stops, even at night.

Sorry to hear that Ron. I was referring to when I first injured it in 93. I used to run a lot and was always playing sports. After I hurt it, it hurt to play baseball, or football, basketball was just out of the question with the jumping. Running stopped and since I have never been one to go to the gym, I started to put on weight. Now I need to loose a lot. My dr said that my weight is causing some of the problems with my diabetes and if I don't loose weight, I will be going on insulin soon instead of the pills.

Joe,

I know what it is like to not be able to run or do things like we used to. I used to play racquetball and got up as high as #4 in the rankings. Back then I could run for hours and had trouble keeping enough weight on me to not grow weak. Now I need to lose about 40 pounds and it is going to be hard to do as I can't even walk fast for more than about a block until that leg and hip are really hurting so bad I have to stop and sit down. At least if I stop eating that will save me some money.

I bought a Wii and the Wii fit as well. It is not quite the same as other outdoor activity, but it is actually fun and I work up a sweat if I go more than 20 min playing the games. They did a good job at making it fun, so hopefully I can keep this one up.

The Wii fit is a really cool option. It will wear your butt out in a great big hurry.

It will also tell on you
