Hey, if it doesn't get better soon all of us will be growing our own food.
Tru,
That will give you a teaching job again.
You should put a website together on how to raise your own groceries.
Heck, I'd look at it.

Steve,
Water is required to grow food. I don't know what the situation is down in Southern Calif., but up here farmers are just not going to have water to grow much and the dairy business is going down fast. All are gone from up here and many others are selling their dairy cows for beef or to people in other states. Even people around here with small gardens are being told they will be limited to the amount of water they can use without paying a huge penalty.

Well I spoke to quickly in the above posts. Here at my place we got just a light sprinkle, but around 11:30PM we had a Texas style thunderstorm complete with lightening. It only lasted about 20 minutes and some places had downpours while others like here got hardly no rain. Forecast for today is possibility of light showers at times. I am surprised that we never lost power with all of the lightening and thunder, but everything was good. It shook the house so hard I thought the walls may start to fall apart.

Damn Ron, hopefully no fires from the lightning. Last night there were more storms rolling into the west side of the metroplex, but they all were south of me by the time they got to the east side.

Joe,
No major fires that I have heard of. A couple of small ones but they got them out right away before they had any chance to spread into the canyons. I saw the police helicopter circling around last night at about 1 AM, so they must have been after some of the dopers again.

Well it looks like for now that the rain has slowed down.
It rained really hard then the sun came out and dam, it was humid. I guess it beats not having any rain at all though. It is really nice out right now.
Hope everyone is OK. Has anyone heard from K in a while?

Steve, that is a good idea. I wish I had the time to do a website.
Then there is the registration fee and host fee.
Unless you know of cheap hosting and free software?
Well, the hanging tomato plants are 3 times as big as the ones in the ground.
This weekend work is killing me.
Growing your own food it good, doing it organically is better.
We have the upcoming berry season to start. It usually hits the first week of July, but this year I think it will be the second week.

Tru,
There are tons of free software that will let you do just that. Some will even host for free if you let them post the ads on the site. (and therefore receive the $$) But it is free none the less.
The domain cost anywhere from $3.00 a year to $19.95, depending on where you set it up. Again some sites will even let you get that for free if you use their hosting and services. It just depends on what you want to do, and how you want to set it up.
Personally, I would buy the domain name at @$20.00 and use the free software and set it up myself. That way if the site did go well you could receive all the ad $$ you could sell on it. I know some people that are making a very good living doing just that.

Well I mowed they yards again yesterday and the forecast is for us to be back near triple digits by the weekend. It was very humid yesterday so I just mowed the yards and quit. I need to use the weed eater today.
My neighbor left for his yearly trip to Canada yesterday so I am taking care of his house also. He said he would be back the first of September and then in a few weeks they were going to Europe.

I need to do my yard too. It is so hot here though that I really don't want to. I think I will prod myself into doing the front today after work and the back tomorrow. Last thing I need is a notice from the HOA that I haven't mowed

Joe,
The heat here temperature wise isn't to bad right now. Just in the low 90s but that humidity kills me. If I feel like it after I do the weed eating today I will get the tractor out and mow the upper lot and all that. Wish I could get a weed eater attachment for the tractor. Then I could just drive along all that fence in the upper lot and have it done.

Just came in from doing the weed eating and it is only 82 right now but starting to warm up and it is a little humid. Between that red dust and my sweating, I looked like a red mud ball when I came inside. Now the work is over. After I rest for a while I will get the tractor out and mow the outside and upper lot and driveway.

Yep, I heard the same thing. Looks like summer time is here in Texas.
It is supposed to be hot and humid all week. Lucky for me the yard is in good shape (and small) I do not want a big yard to take care anymore.
Ron,
If my neighbor left for three months, I sure as heck wouldn't mow his yard. I mean I don't mind being a good neighbor and all but that is asking too much. he needs to get a service to do it while he is away. If he can't find a service then the city will do it for him and lien the property.
Man, it must be nice to have you as a neighbor.

Tru,
Did you get my PM?
I know there is a lot to read on that site but it is a very informative site for setting up on a shoestring budget.
I think that (idea) would be a great site to run and learn from.
