Ours always comes the first of November. What really is a POS is the extra crap added on for the schools and they never seem to do anything with all of that money. Take those things off and the taxes would drop quite a bit. They couldn't even afford to do maintenance on the schools during the summer so where is all of that money going?

The Trip:
I went to Hayward with Ernie yesterday to get his cobra and Miata. After finally finding the place, it is well hidden in between some other buildings, we extracted his Cobra from the rest of the junk cars and parts and the Miata was proudly displayed out front. He took the map and was going to lead the way back as he had this complicated route all figured out. You know, enter the freeway from the off ramps and such. He thinks he is still in Hawaii where if you lose anyone you just drive a few minutes and you are back where they are. Anyway we are on this 4 lane street with traffic backed up from stop light to stop light and Ernie decides we are to turn left so we pull into the left hand lane. Just as the light changes he charges back into the traffic lane and I sit there for two light changes unable to either turn or get back into the lane he vanished in. Finally after deciding since he had the map he should be able to figure a way to get home, I went up through Oakland by the Coliseum and through Berkley until I got on 80. Horrible traffic on 6 and 8 lane roads, speed limit 65 and they all drive 80 and above. After getting on 80 and heading toward Vacaville I was hot and tired and just wanting to get out of that traffic. I took the Winters cut off and came out on I-5 by Dunsmuir. All the way home I kept watching the rest stops to see if I saw the Cobra, it is much faster than the Miata after all and he avoided all the traffic I had to go through. Just over 2 hour after I got home and drank enough water to wash a car, Ernie called. He had made it to Red Bluff. Anyway I now have a Cobra back in the garage and it was an enjoyable trip even though we made it in different directions. That Miata is a great car to drive and really cruises along nicely on the freeway.

Tru,
Ernie came by around 6 AM and picked me up and we drove down to Haward to get his two cars. For an islander he did well and we only got lost a little from the overly complicated route he had drawn out on his map. About 50 or 60 extra miles. Then locating the place was another story. It seems that Hayward doesn't believe in street numbers except maybe one per block, usually well hidden. Then once we found the hole in the wall place, they had to get the Cobra out, several parts were left over so they can use them for another car. The Miata was parked out front. Ernie had the map and was going to lead the way and he promptly ran through a stop light and left me stranded in a turn lane that he had been in and changed his mind at the last moment and traffic was bumper to bumper for blocks. After he vanished over an overpass I decided the heck with this and headed to Oakland and Berkley. I drove with the flow of traffic. Speed limit near the Oakland Coliseum was 65 and we were doing around 85. They have also changed the roads since my last time down there from 6 lanes each way to 8 so I had to guess which ones to get in to finally get on 80 toward Vacaville and the Winters cut off. I got back to Redding at 3:45 and had looked in every rest stop to see if I could seethe Cobra and never saw it. So I stopped by the vets, picked up my little dogs and came on home. About 1 1/2 hours later Ernie called to tell me he was in Red Bluff. Darn that Miata is fast. I drove with the traffic the whole way home and beat him by 2 hours. But he did stop a couple of times. Had to have gas for the beast. It is now parked in my garage on the ramps that I used to park mine on and he has a small oil drip. He called last night as he is trying to get all of his boxes and stuff organized so he can go to Oregon. When I asked him if I could use the oil that my pan had caught dripping from his Cobra to change the oil in my Comet I thought his phone had quit it got so quiet. But all in all it was a great and fun day.

Not new but thought I would post it anyway.
World's Shortest Fairy Tale
Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and went fishing and didn't invite people he didn't like to his BBQ's and played golf a lot and drank beer and scotch and wore whatever he wanted whenever he wanted and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
The End

I have no idea. I guess Bill still has it. I am waiting for Ernie to clean his Cobra before I take it out. It got very dirty on the boat and then the bugs on the way up here. He is just using my garage as a safe place to store it until he gets everything in Oregon settled and has a place to put it inside.

I think our Winter is about here. It is cold this morning, in the mid 40s and supposed to rain around Wednesday. And that is the day I have to go to the dermatologist to see if they can do anything for my leg.

It was so warm, we took the cobra for a ride before the storms hit.
Steve, are you in the path of IDA?
