New toy- you gotta get one!
I hit O'Reillys today to price a tranny for a friend, and the manager marches out with this thing... A WIX (the filter people) 1/24 die-cast model of a '65 427 Cobra, some kinda limited edition, the hood pops, the doors open, that kinda stuff.
It was blue with white stripes, you know UT had to have it.
It's mounted in a styro case, but they said that they had one more.
I'll buy the other tomorrow, rip it out of the case, and play with it.
$28
See in my pics, it's great.

Rare version of Wix fiters Cobra
The O'Reillys parts store chain seem to have the Wix filters Cobras first around here. Any auto parts store that sells Wix branded filters is eligible to participate. They had to sign up for the promation in April/May. The Cobra is part of a series that has been on-going for several years.
Back in 1996 or 1997 the feature diecast was a '66 F100 pulling a car trailer with a '69 Boss 302 racer.
Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper parts stores have their own GRAY version Cobra which is limited to 3246 pieces. The ones on eBay are bringing $100.00 to $140.00 and are coming out of New York State. It may be an Eastern US thing as the Bumper to bumper stores here have the blue version.
Happy hunting.

UT,
That is a nice looking model. To bad they don't have any of the listed stores in this area.
Just for Tru I will put the picture in this post.

Can someone by chance pick one of these up for me? I will pay them for it! Sounds odd but there are no wix retailers here! lol

None of the WIX dealers in my area carry them either. I tried to buy one online at the Wix Website but, they refer you to ebay. So, That's where I had to purchase one. Do a search of "WIX COBRA".

Thank you for posting the pic, Ron.
I went back the next day and an employee had snagged the other, matching, one.
Now I have a toy I won't, can't play with.
Help me with the irony:
A big toy that cost a fortune that I can play with.
A tiny toy that I will cherish long after the Big Toy is gone, but will never play with.
Somebody with a lot more smarts than UT please post a Latin translation of,
"Gettin' old ain't for sissies."

UT,
Glad to help. I have the same model except I got mine from EXOTO. I also have a dual carb version that a guy gave me for my birthday and they are both really detailed. That is a very good model. I can't get WIX filters here unless I order them. Crap, we can't get anything here except fan belts unless you order it.

Just bought mine on Ebay - Guardsman Blue for $29.00 plus $9.00 for shipping. Looks like a nice model at a good price. Given the disassembled state of my car right now, it's about as close to a complete Cobra as I'm going to get for a good long while.
