I recall another accident similar to this a few years ago, a group were on their way up for a jump and the plane just started spinning out of control.
The force was so great, they couldn't make it to the door...sad...

Thanks Ron,

Unfortunate incident - I heard about it before they found the airplane.
We lost ours here in Hawaii in 1981 with only one survivor and eleven lost
when it stalled and spun in while doing a demo jump into the stadium.
Carivans are almost bullet proof - I wonder what went wrong - they were
flying back to Richmond from Idaho. Very sad. I know how the friends
are feeling. Been there.

Flip, of course you were the first guy I thought of when I saw this on MSN, my condolences to the 'jump' community.

Dusty is flying 4 to 6 hours a WEEK now, this isn't exactly helping my confidence level knowing the plane in question is 'bullet proof'. He's flying a Cessna Skyhawk, fuel injection, which also has a very good 'incident' record. I guess sometimes, stuff happens. It would be good to get more information on exactly WHAT that 'stuff' was, let me know if you find out more on this.

Unbelievable how much college cost these days, I'm woefully unprepared...

Ernie,

Dusty is safer in the air than on the highways. I haven't seen anything yet about what caused the plane to go down, but if I do I will post it. The local club had a small incident a few years ago. They used to fly out of Benton and the plane lost a wheel I think it was as they were starting their take off run. Fortunately no one was hurt but the plane was a mess. As for the not jumping out of a perfectly good plane part, that is because I am a coward at heart. I do love flying though and have never been scared at all.

Ron
