Default It's been a long rod....

For those that have been with me all these last 3-4 years, I think you should know. Remember my daughter Wendy, one of the main supporters and helpers of the DVSF? That a major brain tumor was found right after DVSF-III? Well you know they only got half of it the first time, went back in weeks later at her Neurosurgeons requst and did another major operation where they removed about 90% of what was left. (They said the original tumor was bigger than a Florida orange.) It was graded at a #3 although it did fall between what they call a plus 2, they do label it as a #3-terrifyiing to say the least.
Wendy has been a runner all her life, starting just after middle school and always dreamed of running in at least one major marathon and possibly qualifying for the Boston Marathon someday.

After two years of building back her endurance and strenght the Dr's turned her loose and told her she could run in Columbus' 26.2 mile (?) marathon. She had only built up to 15 miles at the time but she wanted to run as far as she could go anyway. She ran it last Saturday and run she did! She actually ran the entire race, finishing in 4 hrs 37 minutes-un-officially, but she got the chance to compete where she for the first, time ran that far! Her time wasn't fast enough to qualify for Boston, but it certainly gets her into other races which could lead to Boston.

To say the least mom and her little brother were very proud, let alone dad.

God bless you all, every thought, prayer, donation was a blessing. One that the Combs family will never forget!

Wow, great news Ed! Sounds like she is doing really well. What a great thing to hear. You guys are a great family. Youve done so much for so many of us. Now that she is back "in the grove", maybe it will be some good times for all of you again!

Few people run in, much less complete, a full marathon. It's a great feeling of achievement-something that no one can ever take away from you. The wife and I did one in '95.

We were blessed with good health, however. To have accomplished this after going through the ordeal that Wendy did is truly awesome.

Congratulations to her, and---good to hear from you again, DV.
