Bring the Firefighters Home Now......
Using irreverent humor to blast the politicizing of California's wildfires, radio giant Rush Limbaugh today adopted some anti-war war logic to call for the firefighters to be brought home.
"I think it's time to bring the firefighters home. I think it's time to bring the firefighters out of there – it's just too dangerous," Limbaugh said on his top-rated program, noting the front-line responders were in grave danger. "They're in there on a false premise anyway, that they can put out the fire. We can't win against the fire, folks, just like we can't win in Iraq. So if the liberals want to politicize this, then I ask them to be consistent and admit defeat to the fire, admit we can't beat the fire and get these brave firefighters out of there ... ."
Limbaugh continued comparing the battle with the blazes to waging the Iraq War, noting, "It's just gonna be back next year anyway. We're putting so many brave people at risk here fighting a fire we can't win. Sound familiar, ladies and gentlemen?"
Limbaugh's comments come a day after Senate Majority Leader said global warming is at least partly responsible for the blazes.
"One reason why we have the fires in California is global warming," the Nevada Democrat told reporters, emphasizing the need to pass the Democrats' comprehensive energy package.
Meanwhile in another story.....
Arson Investigated in California Fires
Oct 24 03:48 PM US/Eastern
By MATT APUZZO
Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON (AP) - California authorities and FBI agents searched a home Wednesday as part of an arson investigation into one of the wildfires devastating Southern California, a law enforcement official said.
The search was conducted in Orange County by the Orange County Sheriff's Office and the FBI, the official said. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the investigation was continuing, would not say what was taken.
"FBI Los Angeles is assisting Orange County fire officials and sheriff's office in an ongoing investigation into the source of some of the fires," FBI spokesman Richard Kolko said. He referred all other questions to local authorities.
The fires, now in their fourth day, have destroyed 1,500 homes and caused at least a half-million people to flee, in what has become the largest evacuation in state history. At least 1,200 damaged homes were in San Diego County, which is just south of Orange County, and officials believe that number will rise.
Twenty-one firefighters and at least 24 others have been injured. One person was killed by the flames, and the San Diego medical examiner's officer listed five other deaths as connected to the blazes.
Thousands of people remained in emergency shelters, where many had an agonizing wait to find out whether their homes had survived.
And this just in......
CBS News has learned U.S. officials will officially declare California's Santiago Fire an arson and offer a $50,000 reward to find the arsonist... Developing...

Well Bush should have never started this fire without waiting for dead wood inspectors first. But now that he has, I think we should stay long enough to finish putting it out.
One thing about Rush. He has an excellant sense of humor.

Did you mean "grammatical"?
I know. With such a short post I didn't bother with preview. I saw the boo-boo but was too lazy to log right back on and fix it. Seems "excellent" is one of those words I always have to type twice.

Why does everyone hi-jack Roscoe's posts?
Bring the firefighters home now. I think Barbara Boxer and Nancy Pelosi should "man" the hoses for a while.
Saw an article that blames the environmentalists for the fires widespread damage. But then again, we all know that Bush is the evil master behind these fires.
I hope everyone that is affected by the fires is OK.
Praying to the almighty Mt Shasta Goddess to work her way south and drop some rain where it's needed.

I don't think either of those two have ever "Manned a Hose" in their lives. Maybe "Hosed a Man"!
And away we go!

Everyone misses the point with these fires- Bush obviously had his minions start the fires because he is in bed with the "big fire" industry.
OR
Bush started the fires to show he can do a better job than was done with Katrina
OR
Bush knew the fires were going to start and did nothing to stop them
