Meh. Robert Greenwald's flicks - like this one - show nothing more than left-wing hatred and ignorance.

Some of the video clips of those Blackwater guys are quite disturbing. No discipine, no authority, no consequences. Disregard for human life. Sad...

What 'video clips of those Blackwater guys?'
What's sad is people who look at a video clip and believe that it's legitimate because some left-wing nut job says it is.
Sheesh.

EXACTLY my point! If you guys believe that this is not happening, I can assure you first hand that it is!!! Normally i would have written this off as some bs propoganda, but since I am here, and I am a contractor for 50 more days (not affiliated with any of the companies in the vid) I can assure you that there is soooooooooooooooooo much waste! For instance, my company pays KBR 20k per month for use of a wet pod! pods are our living quarters. They will do anything to make or save a buck! Even if it puts people in danger! The sad thing.... I'm pretty sure this vid was made maybe in 2005 based on dates of the incidents. It is now 2008 and not a damn thing has changed!

Yeah, yeah, yeah...
And the U.S. Army is evil, the Marines are rapists, the Air Force is Satan, and anyone who is in the Middle East and isn't a Muslim is an infidel.
I grow weary of the bad mouthing.
I despise those that would seek to undermine our troops.
It amazes me how terrible things are over there ... even when it's clear that the opposite it true, and that the media and the naysayers boldly getting their stories from deep in the green zone (or, more often, from Germany) have no clue as to what is really going on.
I"m not buying it. I'm sure there's some MoveOn'r or other liberal parrot that'll take it hook, line and sinker ... but it's a load of crap.
Your pal,
Meat.

Wow... who is saying anything about the military? This is 100% about how contract companies are raping the US for services that sometimes they aren't even performing! Take a $50 case of coke for instance! rediculous!
You don't have to buy it meat. I'm here, I know it's true! I see it everyday! It is the exact reason that MOST military who have worked with contractors.. hate contractors.
I could give at least 12 examples from my company alone. And we don't provide nearly the support of larger comanies like Halliburton/KBR.
If you want to be blind and pretend these things do not happen... I hate to tell you but you are TOTALLY wrong!
Not one thing has been said to put "the troops" down! Should "the troops" have to eat food that is spoiled or take showers in unsafe water just so a company can save some money? I don't think so! But maybe you do!
Take the abu ghraib situation. Some of the military involved are serving time! But what you don't see is that the prison also had civilian interrogators which were heavily involved! Some even ordered said military members to do what they did. guess what their punishment was? They were fired from their jobs! That seems fair to me...... or not!

That's a pantload, and you know it. Contract companies make exactly the amount of money they contracted for.

I don't care who you want to badmouth, it's still attempting to tear America down. And I don't much cotton to that.

I don't care how blinded you are by your hatred, but you are TOTALLY wrong. Maybe it's your narrow field of vision, maybe it's because you're looking for any reason to believe that you - a contractor - are better than all the other contractors. But in the end, it's just what piles up at the south end of a north facing bull.

I don't typically argue with anyone on this site... but Meat... you are one IGNORANT person!
I suppose the 2 52" plasma screens we use in our 20' trailer for monitoring are justified right?! I assure you.. there is more fraud, waste, and abuse in the contracting sections over here than you would believe!
you, sitting in your nice Newport Beach home, are going to argue with me, sitting in Iraq, about what is happening over here!!!
IGNORANCE is bliss!

i don't believe that at all. Maybe there isn't a hate, but it's definitely not a good relationship!
I separated last june. Why? Because if I hadn't separated I would be here right now making under 1/4th what I make now and I would be sitting in the same office, doing the same thing!
75% of the people I work with are prior military. At least 75% of them do not like the contractor mentality. 100% are only here to pad their bank accounts while the economy is going to ****.

My youngest son is in the Navy and headed for Iraq as I write this. Even on this side of the sand box the military is getting screwed. I couldn't count on both hands how many times he told me of watching them load food onto the carrier labeled "NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION". And this is what they are feeding our military on this side of the sand box. I could imagine what they are & he is going to be fed there. He is not going to be on a carrier. He is going to be in the middle of all of that SH!T there.
Meat, I do not know if you have any family there, but I sure hope not. I do not wish that on anyone. If you do, you might change your mind when they get back after they tell you what really goes on there. Hay, But is it any different that any other war. Probably not.
Meat, This is not a dig or attack on you by any means. I just want convey my side.

We need better accountability of the contractors that work for the military, both here on US soil or over seas. To debate that issue, to recognze the very real corruption and mistakes on both sides of the issue (Government and Civilian) should not be construed as 'not supporting our troops'. We support our troops by making sure the money gets spent in an effective manner, by CALLING for accountability. By recognizing mistakes have been and will be made and seeking to correct the problem.
While the military folks generally DO support civilian contractors, I think it's a different ball game in a war zone when your talking about MERCENARIES making BIG bucks. Fact is, these civilian contractors don't have the accountability of our military force, that needs to change. The change will support our troops!

And just to re-emphasize what i said earlier. There is no doubt that this video was made as propoganda. All I am stating is that the info in the video, the fraud, waste, and abuse, IS real! The $$ figures in teh video I think might be a little inflated, but again, the fraud IS real!!!
Terry, as far as the food goes, it really depends on where you go. i see people all the time getting sick from the food. Nothing too serious, but sick none the less. LOTS of fried foods and lots of stuff that looks like it was already eaten once that gets put on rice. The flies are bad, and I don't think I would even wan tto eat ever if I seen the storage area because they surely have maggots. Not to mention the porta johns are only 20 ft from the dining facility, so who knows what these flies have on them. One of the guys I work with got an infection in his eye which the doctors determined is a form of herpes. He is an older retired navy guy with a wife and kids at home and could potentially lose an eye before it's all over. The doctor told him it was likely caused by a fly.
The biggest part about teh video that got me was the water. The guy talking about it was a water tester over here for KBR. he says that of the 67 water purification sites he tested, 63 tested bad! He was in tears talking about how he tested water that had NO chlorine content at all! That OUR troops were bathing in water that likely had harmful bacteria in it!
Like you said Terry, probably not much worse than any other war!

Perfectly said!
And it's not so much that military hates civilians. It's when a civilian is asked to do something and they can't because "It's not in my contract!" That is when the military gets upset. Granted, contracts are contracts, but a civilian contractor should not be playing that card unless what they are asking could cause damage to equipment or people.
Without accountability, there is waste!

Less than a day and already the imaginary hatred between the military and the contractors has already improved.
Imagine that.

huh. 100% of the military I work with are military.
Want to know why fishermen go into hazardous conditions putting their lives in danger to catch fish? To pad their bank accounts. Duh.
Want to know by truckers drive across frozen lakes in the winter hauling cargo? To pad their bank accounts. Duh.
Want to know the reason most people go to work each day? To pad their bank accounts. Duh.
Altruism doesn't pay bills. And the whole altruistic thing kind of falls on deaf ears when you get shot at.
