Top Diners in New England
From Yankee Magazine:
" Nobody knows more about these classic eateries than Richard Gutman, curator of the Culinary Arts Museum at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI, and author of three books on the history of diners. When we asked him to name his five favorites, he groaned, "There are more than 300 diners just in Massachusetts!" Still, he agreed to confide all five of his top picks, with a little lore about each of them. "

In the top 20,the Olympia Diner is mentioned. The place is legendary in Ct. as it sits on the Berlin Turnpike which was the only access to NE before the Interstates.Ct's first speed shop is up the road from it.

Thanks Fred
I think I'll go have some lunch. Grilled corned beef and cheese on Irish soda bread with raisins.
I've eaten in many diners, but only at one on that list. The best one was closed about 25 years ago. They moved it to somewhere in the Worcester area. Eddie's diner in Quincy, by the Fore River Shipyard. It was open 24/7 so it was busy, even at 3 AM.

Thanks for posting the Yankee Magazine link. I was glad to see the Seaplane
Diner in Providence, RI is still going strong. I worked with a bill board
construction crew during the summer of 1972 while going to URI and we used
to get breakfast there - two eggs, toast and a scoop of baked beans and a cup
of coffee for 50 cents. Great food. Oh the memories!
