Rush isn't right about much but he is likely right about alternative energy sources replacing oil when the profit is there. It is very risky to let a "Congress" motivated by local economic interests set a energy policy, for example the recent biofuel program that comsumes more energy than it produces, raises the price of food etc... all to benefit the midwest farmers. One of the OPEC Ministers recently remarked that the Stone Age didn't end because we ran out of stones, but because a more effective technology came along and that is what has always happened throughout history. And that is what will happen in the oil age. I suspect that the price of oil is a bubble that is created by the devaluation of the dollar and the foolish threats by Bush and the Israelies against Iran. It is hard to believe that the demand for oil has more than doubled in the last 6 months ?? The bubble has already burst and it is likely that this is highest price we will ever pay for gasoline in real dollars assuming there is no war in the Middle East....in short...short oil...

This is not a good forum for politics, so I am done talking about it, but do you see any significant difference between what McCain and Obama are likely to do ?

Sometimes there are no easy answers. All I know for sure is that demand is always increasing and the supply is always decreasing. Like bacteria in a petri dish we consume the available resources with no regard for tomorrow.

For liberals to be right about supply not affecting oil prices and that it's "pointless" to drill for oil you must also believe that homebuilders are crazy not to keep building homes in a market glutted with empty houses. The supply of homes is way more than quantity demanded and prices are falling. Go figure...
Don't tell me about "10 years". Watch the TV show Black Gold. In 55 days they are pumping oil from the time they set the well up.
There are many people in this country that want higher oil prices because they want to undermine America - period. And going after energy is the way to do it.
Push is coming to shove and more and more people are calling BS. And it's about damn time.

When a barrel of oil is removed from the ground it takes six months before it will be at the pump for you to use. If we found a billion gallons of oil tomorrow to be used in our market it wouldn’t do anything, since we have a hard time refining the oil we already have, mainly because there have been no new refineries built in the last twenty years. We have Chevy producing 90 % of their new cars to be able run on E85 made from corn. In Florida we have 4 stations that sell E85 and only two are for public consumption the other two are for government use. E85 costs more than gas and when you run E85 you need a higher compression ratio to run equal the miles per gallon as regular gas. Corn has always been a food source for man or beast the world over so the price of corn is getting higher and higher because we are making E85 and if we planted every inch of soil we have with corn it still would not do anything at the pumps.

OK this is my first post on this forum, and the biggest reason I am is WTM442's comment at the end of his post, about liberals. WE ARE ALL AMERICANS, I am a Vietnam vet and I have been working for the department of defense for the last 34 years, training troops, and I have done more for my country and the troops then your pissy little ass ever did and I am one of those liberals you like to call a maggot! What have you done for our country besides b****! Oh wait don't tell me let me guess you have a ribbon on your car that says support the troops. You sniveling little twit why don't you wake up and see what the results are of your conservative party, the reason we are in the mess we are, started with reaganamics. And this ridiculous policy of not taxing wealthy people and corporations, better to be a tax and spend liberal then a barrow and spend conservative. Do you think that we can have a war on two fronts and put it all on a credit card for our children's, children to take care of, is this doing anything to preserve the value of the dollar! Selling out our country to the Chinese its these kind of policies that have ruined this country, not liberals! and if you think we can just drill our way out of this problem you are stupid! it's a drop in the bucket. were you aware that until just recently all the oil from Alaska was sold overseas, it has a high sulfur content and is more expensive to crack, and it took the so called liberals to force the oil companies to sell it hear in the states. And did you know that there are 33 million acres on shore and 40 million off shore that the oil companies have permits to drill on and choose not to, and this is government land and we have all but given it away to them without anything in return! this is our land the tax payers. They choose not to pump, to wait on the prices to go up! Well I have to ask, how much does it need to up? So if in that little pee brain you have, wish to continue to be rave Americans that don't see your point of view, by all means continue! but ask yourself what have you done to make this country better!

Like I've said, come election time many of these law makers will have some stiff competition from candidates willing to make us self sustaining.

And they will ALL be liars. Unless we build a few million windmills and run all our cars on electricity produced by those windmills, we will never be self-sustaining.

Conservatives
I am a conservative, I am a Christian and I do cling to my religion. I also served 23 years in the Military. I volunteered, I wasn't drafted. If liberals are so damn smart why is the approval rating of congress at an all time low of 9%.
I find it funny that a liberal was the first one to get nasty on this post. I guess that comes with being so self righteous and knowing whats best for everyone.
