Heading to New Orleans Hotel Suggestions?

I am traveling to New Orleans for 2 nights. I don't want to stay in the hood and suggestions.

Maybe something in the French Quarter?

If you like to gamble, there are a couple of casinos along the river, such as

You cannot go too far wrong with any of the major hotels, but I would ask if they are currently doing any repair or construction. I'd stay away if they say yes.

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I am heading down on Sept. 6th and leaving the evening of the 8th. That leaves the latter part of Saturday and all of Sunday for some fun!
