The Next 4 years......
Get ready for the following.....
1) nationalizing healthcare;
2) instituting a cap and trade carbon tax;
3) blocking ALL domestic oil development;
4) allowing the Bush Tax cuts to sunset;
5) passing the Fairness Doctrine;
6) confiscating your 401(k);
7) withdrawing unilaterally from Iraq;
8) cutting military spending 25%;
9) junking our nascent missile defense;
10) giving amnesty to 20 million Mexicans;
11) doubling the capital gains tax rate;
12) double digit unemployment;
13) The DOW going down to 3,000
I just don't see how the stock market will end up being a good place to invest during the next 4 years - it may not go down to 3,000, but why would it go up even from current levels, around 9,000 with housing/banking/auto and a lot of other vital industries in the crapper?
From a financial stability point of view - any input here covering the next four years, other than to buy more guns and lots of ammo (I'm doing that now)?
Keep in mind, the House, Senate and now the POTUS will be in Democrat - extreme liberal hands.
America pulled a trigger on a gun yesterday, and in two months that bullet will rip through and kill what is left of American Constitutionalism. The Great American Experiment is OVER...destroyed from within by Communist 5th columnists (and their domestic useful idiots) planted by the Soviet Union 50 years ago.
We now rejoin Europe as just another tired, worn out, stagnant welfare state. Just another corrupt European style country ruled by an Oligarchy.

You need to take back the 'shame on you" - this thread is about the future under Obama as POTUS - his plans are noted above - it's not a pretty picture for the stock market in my opinion or for maintaining a solid financial future - I'm interested in ideas, not your BS.
There are tons of baby boomers looking at retirement during the next four years, or perhaps not based on the financial market meltdown and the Obama election - my question is - what now, financially speaking? Let's of them may be thrown out anyway.

Short honeymoon
It looks like the honeymoon is already over. Yesterday the Dow went up ~300 points in anticipation that Obama was going to win and turn everything around. Today the Dow fell by 486 points and the headline on Bloomberg.com was that the market is down because Obama will struggle to reverse the slowing economy. Are people nuts? Love him or hate, what the heck is he supposed to do in one day? Has all of the optimism already evaporated? This may be a very long 4 years for the new POTUS.

Who said the DOW went up yesterday in anticipation of Obama? At the point the DOW closed yesterday they weren't even making predictions. The DOW was probably up in the hopes that people would get some common sense and realize voting a marxist into power is a bad idea.
As for investments... Stay away from the dollar, it's destruction is imminent. U.S. Stocks - nope. What are the rules on US citizens owning stock in other coutries? Owning stock in Arabic companies might be safe (but then there's the risk of confiscation by the "host" country). Of course then there's always precious metals, not certificates mind you, but real in-your-hands gold/silver/platinum bullion.

Any conclusions of market performance due to any single influence is asinine.
It's been volatile for weeks/months, and people want simple answers.
One outlet said the market was up due to the recent polls giving McCain a chance.
