I haven`t heard that before Tom , but Jim DeMint has always been a conservative ... and bucked that moron Lindsey Gramesty on the illegal amnesty issueand John McCain . It`s also interesting that our Governor is one of only several voices that are against any bailouts ... Auto or States . I believe the Governor of Texas is another . If anyone is interested , Goggle what Gov. Sanford wrote in the WallStreet Journal .

Default Video of Ford plant in Brazil

Ford of Brazil

http://info.detnews.com/video/index.cfm?id=1189

Listen what the reporter says at the very end...

That plant should have been built in the US...

It is also very interesting what Sen McConnell has to say...

I just picked up this tidbit from a Reuters feed on the Big 3 bailout vote in Congress:

"Pushing to convert skeptics in both parties, Democrats agreed to drop at least one unrelated provision that threatened to sink the measure, a congressional official said. They were eliminating a pay raise for federal judges after Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri, who represents an automobile manufacturing state, announced she would oppose the carmaker aid unless that provision was removed."

WTF do pay raises for federal judges have to do with a Big 3 stimulus package? Exactly...nothing! You would think this Congress would stop the pork barrel politics during the WORST of Economic Times?!? Heck no! I would love to read that entire bill and see what else Pelosi, Reid and the other Hitler youth are jamming into this one?!? Unbelievable! And "at least one" tells me there are a whole lot more in there.

If we had a biased media the inserters of that provision would have been tarred and feathered by now. Instead, it gets gently swept under the carpet and buried within one line of one article. Truly pathetic, isn't it?

Tom ... Rick Perry was the other Governor .... I just couldn`t remember his name . Sanford and Perry are two lonely voices that will probably be lost in the mad scramble to destroy this country with debt and government control .
This whole scenario is almost a mirror image of what Ayn Rand wrote many years ago in Atlas Shrugged .... and that isn`t good ( Paulson is the modern Wesly Mooch ). Thanks for finding the articles .
Red ... agree 100 % . Where is an honest press/media who will do the job they are supposed to do and not be the Democrats lapdogs ?
I guess the only thing we can do now is make our feelings known very pointedly to our Congressman/women and Senators ... and keep doing it .
Fortunately , the SC Governor already has started to bring this out . Let`s hope people listen .

Is this a true attempt to give judges a pay raise (pork barrel politics) or a throw away that will readily be dropped to get agreement on the overall bill??

To me, it doesn't matter. WTF was it doing on this emergency appropriations bill in the first place?!? This bill is about saving GM's ass for another 45 days and nothing else. That's all the bill should have contained.

If people like this worked at my company (employer), they all would have been fired a long time ago.

The last thing I heard was that there was more than one Pork Addition to the bill. But now they can start over according to this article.

Senate Republicans are doing what management and the Democrats are too pussified to do...make the UAW commit to doing what is necessary to keep their jobs.

This is squarely at the UAW's feet now.

Part of the initiative for the long term resolution of the economic challenges should be the resignation of Senator Dodd ( D-CT ) as Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee. After approx 6 + months he still has not released the terms of the VIP mortgage obtained from Countrywide, i.e., "waiting for the appropriate time . " The Senate Ethics Committee has not concluded their investigation, which has been underway for months, regarding the mortgage.

Yet, considering CT voting patterns, more than likely Senator Dodd will be re-elected.

Hmm, Senate Republicans have opened up the situation so that the White House puts out billions of dollars with conditions to be determined later by the incoming Congress?

" Keith Crain, chairman of Crain Communications Inc. and editorial director of AutoWeek, spoke before the Detroit Economic Club on Thursday, Dec. 11, on the state of the Detroit automakers. "

" To say his remarks were candid would be an understatement.........."

The only thing the incoming Congress, as well as the incoming President, will want to do is bail out their Union buddies.
I can't wait to see who Obama will appoint as "Car Czar".

-Hey, that would have been a good job for him to have given his buddy from Ill. Gov. Rod Blagojevich, in exchange for the Gov. appointing the person Obama wanted to fill his Senate seat! 'Ol Blagojevich doesn't know much about cars, but he does drive a Suburban!

Congressional Motors Announces

The First Car for 2012, The Pelosi

It's in the way you dress. The way you boogie down. The way you sign your unemployment check. You're a man who likes to do things your own way. And on those special odd-numbered Saturdays when driving is permitted, you want it in your car. It's that special feeling of a zero-emissions wind at your back and a road ahead meandering with possibilities. The kind of feeling you get behind the wheel of the Pelosi GTxi SS/Rt Sport Edition from Congressional Motors.

All new for 2012, the Pelosi GTxi SS/Rt Sport Edition is the mandatory American car so advanced it took $100 billion and an entire Congress to design it. We started with same reliable 7-way hybrid ethanol-biodiesel-electric-clean coal-wind-solar-pedal power plant behind the base model Pelosi, but packed it with extra oomph and the sassy styling pizzazz that tells the world that 1974 Detroit is back again -- with a vengeance.

We've subsidized the features you want and taxed away the rest. With its advanced Al Gore-designed V-3 under the hood pumping out 22.5 thumping, carbon-neutral ponies of Detroit muscle, you'll never be late for the Disco or the Day Labor Shelter.

Engage the pedal drive or strap on the optional jumbo mizzenmast, and the GTxi SS/Rt Sport Edition easily exceeds 2016 CAFE mileage standards. At an estimated 268 MPG, that's a savings of nearly $1800 per week in fuel cost over the 2011 Pelosi.

Even with increased performance we didn't skimp on safety. With 11-point passenger racing harnesses, 15-way airbags, and mandatory hockey helmet, you'll have the security knowing that you could survive a 45 MPH collision even if the GTxi SS/Rt were capable of that kind of illegal speed.

But the changes don't stop there. Sporty mag-style hubcaps and an all-new aggressive wedge shape designed by CM's Chief Stylist Ted Kennedy slices through the wind like an omnibus spending bill. It even features an airtight undercarriage to keep you and a passenger afloat up to 15 minutes -- even in the choppy waters of a Cape Cod inlet.

Available in a rainbow of color choices to match any wardrobe, from Harvest Avocado to French Mustard.

Inside, a luxurious all-velour interior designed by Barney Frank features thoughtful appointments like an in-dash condom dispenser. A special high capacity hatchback holds up to 300 aluminum cans, meaning fewer trips to the redemption center. And the standard 3 speaker Fairness ActoPhonic FM low-band sound system means you'll never miss a segment of NPR again.

Best of all, the Pelosi GTxi SS/Rt is made right here in the U.S.A. by fully card-checked unionized workers and Detroit 's famous visionary jet-set managers. Even if you don't own one, you can enjoy the patriotic satisfaction that you're supporting the high wages, good benefits, and generous political donations that are once again making the American car industry the envy of the world.

But why not buy one anyway? With an MSRP starting at only $629,999.99, it's affordable too. Don't forget to ask about dealer incentives, rebates, tax credits, and wealth redistribution plans for customers from dozens of qualifying special interest groups. Plus easy-pay financing programs from Fannie Mae.

So take the bus to your local CM dealer today and find out why the Pelosi GTxi SS/Rt Sport Edition is the only car endorsed by President Barack Obama. One test drive will convince you that you'd choose it over the import brands. Even if they were still legal.

Sparks,

I can certainly agree with you on that. But I sure hope that Pelosi doesn't see it. Or they will probably have a cheaper Boxer version for the bottom class.

Hey, maybe they will resurrect AMC and we can all go out and buy the new Obamatador! Or for the tough economy minded, a Grim-lin.
