The guy who jumped out after the shoe was thrown was Don. He lives directly across the street from me. He is in the Secret Service and is always assigned to Georgie. He did not look too amused. He is a good man. Too bad he was the only one who reacted.

Good for Don, but would he be happy to have that info posted on a public forum? I ask this in good faith and with no disrespect intended.
On topic, though, Gee Dubya displayed impressive reflexes and composure. A man less gifted in those traits would have been visibly rattled and probably gotten smacked in the head by a dirty shoe to boot.
Security was definitely deficient, though - that could have just as easily been a weapon like a glass or ceramic throwing spike designed to be spirited past the metal detectors that were set up outside. No one should ever get an opportunity to have such a clear shot at the President, let alone two.
