Default Need help with a photo.

Hello, Help please. I have a one photo on a disc, I delivered a 38 yrs old photo of CSX2498 at the drag strip to the local photo store. They copied onto a disc.

I can not get the photo from the disc onto my photo album so I can post to Club Cobra. Any suggestions?

thanks for any help, Karl

Karl,

You should be able to put the CD into your computers CD drive and then go to explorer and open it and see you picture on it. If you can't see the picture than either they used some program that you don't have or the picture isn't on the disk. I have had WalMart disks and had no problems. If you can see the picture in Explorer after clicking on the CD to open it, then you should be able to click on the picture and drag it to the My Pictures Folder which will be near the top of the list of programs you will see in Explorer. Then you can upload it from there.

If this doesn't help, then ask one of the moderators as they know far more about this than I do.

Karl,

If it's too large for the sites software you need to resize it...If you do not have a piece of software to resize it on your local computer (do you have MS paint on your computer?), you can stop down at the shop and I can do it for you with photoshop.

VSO image resizer is a free download, each time you open it another box will appear, just hit 'continue' and do your resizing.

thanks for the help. Ron has the correct idea, I can not even view the photo. For now resizing is not the problem.

Can you email the file to me? I'll resize and send it back.

Default BAD CD reader

Hello, Looks like ron61 was on the correct trail. I inserted a brand new CD and it is still not reading anything on the disc.

How to fix this? What are my options?

thanks for the help.

Sadly, there is no hope. Be merciful and put a few softpoint .357's thru the computer and put it out of its' misery .

You have a couple of options. First try going to My Computer, Right Click and chose Properties. Then click on the Hardware Tab. Once that page is on top, click on Device Manager. That will show all the drives and stuff in your computer. First look for the small yellow triangle next to your CD drive. If there is none click the + sign and open the drive and it should list what kind you have and if you have both a CD and DVD drive they will be listed on two lines that tell you the make and such. Right click on the failing one and delete the drivers. Then shut the computer off and let it reinstall them as it boots up. If that still doesn't work, you will need a new CD drive. They aren't expensive and really aren't hard to install depending on how jammed together your drives are in the case.

Hope this helps.

OK, I did all that and a box pops up and states "the driver can not be installed, consult the maker of the CD drive"

what do do now? buy a new CD drive?
If I buy a new CD drive will the computer automatically install the driver when I start up?

thanks, karl

you should be able to download the driver for your drive and install. Check the mfg. website.
