California Banning black cars!
I think all these legislators & California Air Resources Board should be given a free ocean cruise and about 200 miles out give a Nuke Sub the OK for torpedo target practice!

OK, what the hell does the picture of the car on fire have to do with the article?
As far as the article goes, it does not surprise me.

Geez, seems like a waste of money to even work on this project at the State level.
Besides, black is a great color on a car, it even makes junk look good.

They should sell each dark coloured CA car with white vinyl racing stripes applied. This white area will give them the 20% reflectance they are looking for, and the owners can peel the stripes off if they don't like it them. Problem solved.

Back in 1964 my mom was driving a rural mail route in southwest Kansas, 94 miles a day. She ordered a Ford Fairlane, sky blue on the bottom with a white top, for the mail route car. It never needed A/C (thank goodness!, as she didn't order A/C on this car and it gets really HOT in SW Kansas during the summer). The white top reflected the sun's rays and kept the car's interior cool. Might this be a more acceptable answer to this issue???
This was a special order option from Ford, I notice you don't see two-toned cars coming from the manufacturers these days .

if this is the idea that made it this far, think of the ones that were discarded. In California we are definitely in the top 5 for having stupid people in charge, but since we keep electing that must make the rest of us equally stupid.

Gee, I never thought that anyone could make the Federal Govt. look intelligent, but ours is sure giving it a good try. I don't have a vehicle that has air conditioning in it so I am sure that will be against some kind of stupid law.

Gee, I lived in Ca. for 20 years, the SF Bay area no less! I don't remember being insane when I lived there. Maybe it was all the smoke from the "GRASS" fires?
And we used to call Southern Ca. 'GRANOLA".
What isn't fruits or nuts, is flakes!
What dos the burning car have to do with the story? It WILL be black,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, then rusty orange,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,then rusty brown,,,,,,,,,,,

Just follow the logic:
The lighter the color the less work (energy) needed to stay cool. For the sake of the earth we need to ban those things that are dark in color.
That would mean black cats would need to drink more and use more resources then white cats.
First black cars then you'll come for the black cats, next......
Hmmmmmmmm.....

Just take a little time and sit in the Sacramento Capital grounds and watch the big BLACK limos pull up to haul those crooks across the street to eat. Also they start, stop, idle and in general use as much gas in their daily driving as many people do in several days. Nothing but the best the taxpayer can afford for the California Elite.

The Yard office in Yuma is about 1500ft from the Colorado.I can see Kalifornia from the front steps. And evey time i do,i get the heebie-jeebies.And when i cross into Kalifornia to pick up a train,i feel the need to be decontaminted & burn my clothes.

Don't worry Bill. Trains will be banned next as they cause noise pollution. And if they ban Black and dark colored cars, they have to ban white cars or face racial issues. Why not ban the state?

Just curious....
Why wouldn't black cars be alright up in the mountains and/or in Northern Ca. where it does get cold ?
How about each county deciding the colors of the cars allowed to be registered there and maybe a Toll Charge for the offensive colored cars that pass through ?

Cars that are on fire require much more air conditioning to keep cool. Perhaps black cars are known to spontaneously combust in CA? But I suppose that fire engine will be more effective than the air conditioner anyway.

Please removed Unneeded items form your trunk!
The CA Air Resources Board is suffering from a lack of oxygen to the brain.
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Tire-i...-14760248.html
"The state Air Resources Board on Thursday adopted a resolution requiring auto repair shops to check tire pressure every time drivers bring in their vehicle for maintenance, oil changes and smog tests. The next step is to develop detailed rules to implement the mandate, which will take effect in July 2010."
This one is so lame I laughed out loud when I read it.
"The U.S. Department of Energy estimated at the time that proper tire inflation can boost gas mileage by about 3.3 percent. It recommends the step along with regular tuneups, replacing dirty air filters and removing unneeded items from the trunk."
The action taken Thursday is one of nine early steps California is taking under a 2006 law requiring the state to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by a third -- or to 1990 levels -- by 2020."

At first I thought this was a joke..."Doh"
Left wondering what planet these folks actually come from...we cannot get budgets passed on time but we can always count on our CARB for these absolutely ludicrous ideas...
