What IS that hanging off the side of that Mercedes???
Out in the Cobra in Santa Cruz, and as I pull away from a stop sign I glance in my rear view mirror at a silver Mercedes. I catch a glimpse of what looks like a big black hose hanging off the back of the car. I keep looking, and as the car turns slightly I can see down the passenger side of the car...
There, hanging out of the fuel filler is about 8 feet of hose and fuel nozzle from a gas pump!
I pulled over, and motioned for the woman to stop. I get out, walk back to her car. She has the look of a person that thinks I'm trying to pull a fast one on her. I motion for her to roll down her window, but nothing doing.
"You have a fuel filler hanging off the side of your car."
She replies, "That's okay. I'll take care of it."
She obviously didn't get it. So I motioned for her to wait a minute, and I extract the nozzle from her filler cap, and walk up to her window with the nozzle and the eight feet of hose.
Stunned silence, eyes wide, mouth gapping open.
"You might want to take this back to the gas station where you just filled up. Can you pop your trunk?"
She pops the trunk, I toss the hose into her trunk.
More stunned silence.
"Have a nice day!"
I fire up my Cobra, and drive off.
I've heard of people doing this, but this is the first time I've seen it for myself. The hose had a pop off connection, so aside from dragging it for a mile or so, I think it was still good.
Anyway, what a hoot.

My wife said if you pulled out an eight foot hose, she wouldn't open her window either!

That must have been embarrassing for her, but imagine when she has to go back to the station and give it to them. Boy, would I have loved to have seen that look on her face.

Crazy story! At first I thought this was going to be a blond joke.
Was she on her cell phone when you flagged her down?

I thought about taking a picture, but only after the fact. There were a few amused drivers passing by as I showed her what had been hanging off the side of her car.
Eight foot hose... My, my, we digress quickly around here. LOL funny, though.
jhv48: Your wife is pretty funny. Hang onto that one.

You never know, she might be using it to get guys, like going to a bar or something.
If you had stuck around, you might have seen her stop at the next light and put the hose back in for the next guy.

This happens ALL THE TIME. I owned three gas stations that I sold a couple years ago, and we would get a "drive off" at least once a month. It's about a $700.00 fix, and the drivers usually get pissed off when we would ask for their insurance info. They thought we should just eat the cost for their stupidity.
BTW, 95% were females...
