Post When America Arrives At Where Calif. Is Today

Just thought that some of you might be interested in this. And read some of the links in the article also. The one about the Obama Health Care is interesting.

Ron,
interesting article, as a Californian yourself, you should know how much damage prop 13 has done to the state, and the biggest part of that bill was never known nor understood, and it was sold to the public with the blessing of operations, as with property taxes being held to a limit, so was corporate property taxes, and corporations rarely sell off their assets, overtime this has dramatically offset the revenue the state takes in, and over that same time expenditures went up in the state, you can only cut back so much without tearing at the fabric of a society, Reagan did no one any favors in California, he ruined the state as well as the country with his idea's it brought on a world of total greed and reckless abandon for the needs of the greater good, now after 30 years of this religious belief, we find ourselves where we are.

Bill,

Actually not many regular home owners are still under prop 13. I am the only one around here that I know of as I haven't sold or bought a new place since then, and it saved me as my taxes were fast going to the point I was going to have to sell my place.
I do agree with you about the business angle as they have worked it so they can stay under prop 13 and it was never intended to be used that way. But my property taxes are still going up as fast as the others as they keep adding surcharges which they claim aren't taxes onto the property tax bill. About one more surcharge and I will have to start looking for a place to live.

Ron,
I know there are not too many people that are still protected by prop 13 and its the home owner that this bill of goods was sold to but it was an extremely deceitful bill, propagated by big business. my feelings on property tax is it should stay the same as when you purchased the property, until you sell or re-finance, you have not realized the gains and should not be taxed on something you have not realized.

Joe g
Yes I blame Clinton for NAFTA and WTO for the destruction of the manufacturing capabilities of the country, letting multy national corporations that have no elegance to the United states have a field day with our economy was unforgivable, this was started by Bush 1 finished by Clinton and further propagated by Bush 2, so yes as far as I'm concerned they are all like Prescott Bush, a crime family that does not give a S*** about our country, just profit, as for Dodd, Schumer and Franks, I have little control over the people that continue to vote them in, all I know is for the last 30 years for the most part the republicans have been in charge, well no more and never again!

Bill,

That would be a good way to do it but the politicians would screw it up also. When I bought my property and had the house built I paid cash and the taxes were way to high. So I have benefited from Prop 13, but now the dam surcharges are more than my tax bill. Another brilliant thing from Sacramento. I own one vacant lot that the taxes run around $3.89 a year on. Last year instead of having me pay that lots taxes with the rest, I had to send a money order to some place in Sacramento I think it was, then they process that big amount and take their 80% cut and send the rest back to the county up here. Just how much do you think it cost them to have me send that $3.89 down there and them process it, rather than just pay it with my regular property taxes. I would bet they spent at least $30 dollars to collect that $3.89. Real logic at work there.

Cobra (space) Bill....
you should know how much damage prop 13 has done to the state

Damage? How was the state damaged? Are you saying that because property tax could not be increased above the 1% limit the state was damaged? Why not spend within your means? Besides, property tax always goes up beyond the 1% limit anyway with special assessments for this and that.

You really should stop posting garbage. You don't even live in California.

Yeah...but CdC was right, and that's one thing you and the real CobraBill have in common: Making comments about California when you don't live here.

I personally don't appreciate it.

Actually Jamo I lived most of my life in California, it was not till I was transferred by the government in 94 that I wound up in Washington, and all my family is still in California, so it's you that don't know what you are talking about!

I am a California native. I didn't leave 15 years ago and have to rely on irrelevant memories or hearsay. Again, you have much in common with CobraBill, who also left and now relies on what he thinks is going on here.

You have made a mistake...you have spoken directly to me.

Oopsy daisy...sounds like a personal attack. Have a few days off to reconsider your thought process, and many thanks for the opportunity to serve you (I've been waiting).

I live within my means...if I don't have the money, I do not spend...

I don't use credit unless i can pay it off at the end of the month...

I am of the opinion that our government, both California and the feds need to live within their means just like most of us do...

Prop 13 must be on the liberal talking point list because this is the second time I have seen a liberal discussing it on two different sites this week. If Prop 13 were repealed, as the liberals want, many people would leave the state. I know for me that would be the the final straw, and I would become a full time resident of Arizona.

They have already taken Prop 13 to the U.S. supreme court and it was ruled legal with no option to appeal it again. Of course with this new administration and the seemingly total lack of what the law or constitution says, anything is possible.
