Just 2 things wrong with the 2 statements you just made. [Typical liberal lying BS]

One the health care system was a for profit institution long before Reagan. There were then and there still are NOW non-profit hospitals. Some planned and some just turned out to be non-profit. Same as any other industry. Before Reagan, Medicare paid them both and they still do. If they are in the same geographical area, Medicare pays each the exact same amount for the same diagnosis.
There are also hundreds or thousands of medical corporations. Some chartered as for profit and some chartered as non-profit. They exist now and they existed before Medicare.

And the second thing is that Medicare part B has NOTHING to do with drugs.

Medicare part D written by the LIBERALS is the drug coverage you want to b!tch about. Part D is only a couple of years old. It is too new to have contributed to the overall problem. But it is a terrible program.

Please research beforehand and post something resembling a fact instead of liberal brainwashed BS.

OK it was more than 2 things wrong!

Why is Obamacare Sinking?
Even the libs are now lining up against it! Now that the blue dogs have pasted in some semblance of rational financial thought, the left wing dems in Congress are vowing to fight it!?!?
Last night during channel surfing I landed on 20/20 (E. Vargas is HOT), and John Stossel had a VERY good piece on Canadian healthcare, with real numbers and shocking results. Like having to wait for a month to get an MRI (inless you were a dog, because the vets have no wait), or being told that you had to wait weeks for life saving care. He also gave some insight into the whole 'for profit' debate, and had numerous snippets with Canadians who chose to come here for care. There is even a rising professional service in Canada of companies that get Canadians through the process faster to get care in the USA. Hopefully, the piece will appear online so I can tag it here because it was well thought out, and at the same time extremely disturbing.
Oh, and don't forget the town that has a lottery system for getting residents on the doctor's list so they can get care!

Look for "Healthcare; does Canada do it better?"

Also........

comments.

'Euthanasia' claims stoke seniors' fears on health care (talk radio, end-of-life rationing)

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...yndication=rss
_____

The controversy stems from a proposal to pay physicians who counsel elderly or terminally ill patients about what medical interventions they would prefer near the end of life and how to prepare instructions such as living wills. Under the plan, Medicare would reimburse doctors for one session every five years to confer with a patient about his or her wishes and how to ensure those preferences are followed. The counseling sessions would be voluntary.

Read this very carefully. It is voluntary, the counseling is voluntary. The requirement is to have physicians provide end of life counseling, every 5 years. The incentive for a physician to do this is the money from the government. Note too, your living will requirements become "preferences."

Any of us who have had to deal with a serious illness for ourselves or a loved one have had counseling from either the staff at the hospital, our doctors, or our personal attorneys. This counseling is already provided in many cases. Just go for an in-patient surgery and you will have someone visiting you before your surgery with all the forms from a living will to the do not resuscitate orders. You will be asked to sign them and most likely strong armed in some manner to sign them. Often hospitals won't even accept your attorney prepared paperwork.

My point. This stuff basically already exists. Why is it even in the legislation? What is it they are trying to "change" in the current situations? Doctors and hospitals already do this in order to avoid litigation. Now the government is going to mandate it come from the doctors to the patient vs. the patient directives to the doctor. But, what is the purpose if not to lower the costs?

By the way, Canadian Health Care: A Viable Model? (John Stossel on ABC's 20/20 TONIGHT 10pm EST) http://abcnews.go.com/2020
