Vick vs Stallworthless
Ok... was wondering if someone can explain this.
Vick bankrolls a dog fighting ring, kills a few dogs. He gets 2yrs in PRISON, and nearly 3yrs worht of NFL suspension. This is a guy that I am positive was raised around dog fighting. Dogfighting is a culture.
Stallworth, kills a man with his car WHILE DUI. He gets 24 days in jail and a year suspension. He plays hte remorse card and claims he would have hit him even without being drunk because the man wasn't in a crosswalk. Yet he admits to flashing his lights and honking his horn attempting to warn the man of his impending death.
Now, it's not that I condone dogfighting. I just fail to see how the justice system has prevailed here.

I have found you will simply go crazy trying to find equity while comparing things because there is no equity.

Vick was running a criminal enterpise for more than six years. He was charged with multiple felonies and pled down to a few. I hope he never plays in the NFL again. The cases are very different. BTW, Stallworth was suspended for the year this morning.

I have some ex-inlaws that are from the south. Northern Florida to be more precise. Dog fighting, cock (rooster) fighting is all around that area. To them it is no different than racing horses. That don't make it right but that is just the way it is.
I don't agree with it but I was raised here in Ca.

SP... so by your statement you seem to agree with the ruling. Vehicular Homicide 24 days, racketeering 2yrs.... talk about the morals of our country.
Terry, I completely agree. In the south this stuff is just a daily thing. people have gotten off with probabtion for the same thing vick did. Vick served 2 years more than 90% of others convicted of similar crimes.

Intent is of primary concern.
Vick had intent to kill for no good reason other than financial profit.
DUI's have to be treated for what they are, making a risky thing (driving a car) that much more risky. Intent to kill just isn't there, even though the mad mothers would like you to believe otherwise. Except for the smell of alchohol, DUI's are almost idenical to DWS's. (driving while stupid)

Ronbo, as a person whom has had a DUI. I disagree with you. Knowingly driving after drinking should be considered intent. Not to mention I believe the police report also mentioned the odor of Marijuana from Stallworths car and person.
BTW, Vick signs with teh EAGLES!!!

Playing in national, professional sports should be more of a priviledge than a job. People like Vick and Stallworth are not worthy to play the game. Yes, Vick paid a price. Stallworth not so much. Letting them play sends a wrong signal to our kids that idolize pro players.
Vick and Stallworth should get normal jobs and get on with life. I predict they will last no more than a year or two. People with normal jobs that commit crimes often find that their original career path is closed off to them after serving their time. They usually have to start over. And that is as it ought to be. Shame on the NFL for allowing these undeserving people back in the game.

Indeed...shame on the NFL. They should have higher standards. I know if I committed a similar crime, I would lose my teaching license and have to pick a different career.

2)Was he charged for MJ?No.DOes the fact that he was charged with DUI preclude the JAYWALKER from being at fault? No.

1)Why should the NFL have higher standards than the US constitution?
2)Only because of a bullsh!t rule about you not having a felony conviction.

So I guess if one of your loved ones gets killed by a drunk driver we should just say... up... sorry about your luck....

Who said he was drunk? And don't give me the bullsh!t line that .08 makes you drunk.Again, you can't prove intent. And to suggest that someone who gets bagged by the MADD driven sytem has intent is beyond lunacy. Not to mention goes against legal defintions & logic.

They should have a higher moral obligation since these organizations and individuals (like it or not) are in the public eye and act as role models for so many people.

And the famous saying "I wanna be like Mike" comes to mind.... Definitely ROLE MODELS!!!
And yes... if the LEGAL definition in your state is .08, then YES... .08 is LEGALLY drunk! I assure you at .08 your reflexes are slower than normal.... but this moron actually had time to honk and flash his lights before he killed the man.

Can't play the Constitution card both ways by saying what is higher than the constitution and then downplaying .08! The law is the law.

1)WRONG,WRONG,WRONG
2)Screw the "legal defintion".Which we all know was arrived at by POLITICS and not scientific reality.
Your own arguement goes to as why someone under the influence CAN NOT form intent.

And BTW, Stallworth's BAC was almost TWICE the LEGAL limit.
His "intent" was to drive DRUNK. Knowing the consequences is simple.... well... apparently for some.
And I guess when you were young you just wanted to be like nobody when you grew up...
