Default $9 Trillion Federal Deficit....

In a chilling forecast, the White House is predicting a 10-year federal deficit of $9 trillion — more than the sum of all previous deficits since America's founding. And it says by the next decade's end the national debt will equal three-quarters of the entire U.S. economy.

My prediction-using this as the reason and the continuing debate regarding how to fund the estimated $1Trillion it will take to revamp healthcare (which is not part of the projected $9 trillion deficit), President Obama will defer any further action on healthcare reform until 2010 to 2011.

While his party may not like it, it is a graceful way to regroup, save face and reevaluate options.

Guess we will see if my hypothesis plays out in early 4th quarter.

Job well done.

I read that story as well. The numbers are in line with the CBO, the house economists of our beloved government. If it does not scare the $hit out of you to think of debt equaling 75% of GNP then you need to go back to economics class. We are in dire straits, and we need to stop spending money on a failed economic model (the 'Great Society') NOW.

Keep in mind that current budget deficit projections fail to account for additional deficits created by any Health Care Reform, Education or Immigration legislation on the President's domestic agenda slate. Considering the scope of the President's agenda it is safe to assume that we are likely to see the long term deficit projections increase exponentially if the President's agenda is enacted.

It's madness.

Yep,
People need to be allowed to fail - it can be a good learning experience.
Businesses also need to be allowed to fail, and executives need to be held responsible for illegal behaviour with more than just 'Club Fed' style lockup.

State and Fed government needs to stop subsidising people and corporations.

Remember too that Government spending estimates are ALWAYS grossly understated.

Health care reform under HR3200 is estimated at $1.6 Trillion EXTRA. The real number WILL be more than double that. Even triple. Medicare covers 45 million people. Health care reform under the Gov will cover 330 million DAY ONE + 12 to 20 million ILLEGALS.

Medicare covering ONLY 45 million HAS ACTUALLY COST more than $1 trillion per decade. How would covering 345 million people cost only $1.6 trillion over the next decade. That number is compiled of too much booze, lies, or stupidity.

If Cap and Trade gets passed, $9 Trillion will look like the good old days.

THEN they start in on EDUCATION. Reforming the educational system that produced this bunch should be worth considering.

We keep hearing about all these other countries with different Government involved systems.

Canada has a system and it works fine. [according to whom? But that is a different discussion.]
England has a different system.
France has a different system
Germany has a different system
Japan has a different system
Switzerland has a different system

If we go universal health care we will cover over 350 million people, and our population is growing.
ALL THOSE OTHER COUNTRIES TOGETHER, have a total, diminishing, population of 368.2 million. 6 different systems, each fraught with its own problems, to cover essentially what we would have to cover going in. And ours is growing.
Why is our population growing when all those longer life expectancy countries are shrinking?

Our present Government health care systems, Medicare/caid, VA are all unsustainable and bankrupt NOW! They ONLY function because they HAVE the private for profit health care system to succor from.

Ray,

At the rate the debt is going up, we may have to stop using numerical money numbers and measure it in Light Years until it can be slowed down. It just seems our Govt. has no concept of cutting the waste for any reason and wants to just keep spending more and more on anything some person can think of.

The problem seems to be that the feds have a printing press. What if they were like CA - once you run out of money - that's it, you need to make cuts.

Somehow, we need to take away the printing press or limit its use.

One possibility. As old as the printing preses are and at the rate they are running them, they should wear out or break soon and they won't be able to get any parts for them. And then they can't buy new ones because they won't have anything to print the money to pay for them with. They restore old slot machines and sell them. Wonder if I could get a restored money printing press.

On the other hand, the fact that you believe that it's a settled issue, e.g. illegals do not secure coverage under HR 3200, is why we all laugh at you (as a liberal).

Go to http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/08/...re.immigrants/

That's CNN, left of Obama.

The fact that the democrats are voting down attempts to place a verification clause in the bill prompts questions and concerns that illegals will, in fact, secure benefits etc under the bill. Now, is the concern supported by fact? Well, why wouldn't the democrats support verification - perhaps based on the fact that illegals will secure benefits and services and be 'identified' as illegals during the process?

In other words, the half-assed language and lack of a verification system requires tweaking within the bill to insure that illegals do not secure benefits or services. The fact that non-liberals are pointing this out should result in specific revisions, not just BS - why not make it perfectly clear? Is that too much to ask of liberals?

The queer thing is that what you view as laughable is actually a valid concern with a known fix that liberals will not accept. And, therein is the problem with liberals and your view - over and over again.

HR 3200 was prepared by some of the most liberal people in America without input from non-liberals. Therefore, it needs to be reviewed word-for-word and even for words that are missing. It’s naturally a suspicious document, at best and it's turning out to be a piece of garbage.

Simple suspiciousness is not paranoia - not if it is based on past experience or expectations learned from the experience of others.

Now is not the time to just trust liberals. The deficit is projected at $9 Trillion and this bill may add $1-$2 Trillion more or possibly $10-$20 Trillion more if you consider what happened when Medicare started under Johnson - ended up costing 9 times the original projection and it's now headed to BK along with Medicaid, Amtrak and the Post Office.

I'll agree that conservatives are suspicious and expect nothing but trickery from liberals. This is especially true now with liberals having the votes in Congress and an ultra liberal as POTUS, along with no desire to include conservative input in bills. That's not being paranoid.

Keep in mind.......

"Sometimes paranoia's just having all the facts."
