Well, it's not true that it was Robin Williams, but it's still a good plan. I support being isolationist for a decade or two.

No more foreign aid. We'll use it to help our own people. One exception: Nations that want money from us shall have free and open democratic elections before they get a dime. No more giving money to the enemies of our enemies (who are not usually our friends).

interesting - who was it...?

anyway, its an interesting laissez-faire idea that would cut out a lot of the crap from current wold-view politics.

I read that or aide agencies pay import taxes to tinpot regimes, when they are bringing in aide to help THEIR people.... and as the man says, then diverted to the army or back marketeers. id best shuddup.

Here's the link. It doesn't say who actually wrote it.

http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/williams.asp

According to the Snopes article, Williams did have an eleventh item that doesn't appear:

"The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying 'Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses.' She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'You want a piece of me?'" --Robin Williams

Snopes has info on virtually all of this kind of stuff.
