"Trying to find words to describe the extreme offensiveness of flying the Communist Chinese flag over the White House challenges my vocabulary. Words such as UNBELIEVABLE, UNREAL, HORRIFIC, OBSCENE, even TRAITOROUS quickly come to mind."
My sentiments exactly

I hope it's not true. Links above in the Google search say it is & yours says it isn't. I hope it's not.

I do not understand the controversy. It seems to be tied to the type of event. State Visit... Flags fly, Official Visit, no flags. Its not a State Visit.
This is being fueled by the Chinese media and far (left and right) wing nut cases.

Shouldn't Wal Mart be flying the Chinese flag over every one of their stores, on a regular basis?

Wayne...neither do I. The Chinese are building a major port below Tijuana...so as to completely bypass US ports, which is going to hurt LA-Long Beach and other ports big time just as they invest in modern container handling.
The threat of Chinese financial control is not a US-only issue...it's a North American issue, buddy.
Just my opinion, of course.
I hate to admit it, but I like Obama's shot at the Chinese re tires. Seems to have rattled them a bit. I hope the follow-through is better than what the Clintons engaged in during the 90s (accepting huge campaign sums from Chinese business, transferring technologies, etc.). Bush slowed down technology transfer big time, but not enough and a bit late to undo the 90s trangressions by our leaders.

I now see where you were going but that is not how I read it at first. I believe in international trade however our domestic manufacturing (Canada and US) cannot possibly compete when we have all kinds of environmental, safety, financial, etc etc rules and regulations to follow, rules that simply do not exist in China.
One difference between Canada and the US is that we have not been running big deficits until this year so the Chinese don't own lots of Canadian debt. Wal Mart, et al, import all kinds of Chinese crap up here just like they do in the US but China buys lots of our natural resources so we don't have the trade imbalance like you do. Basically, I hate the ba$tard$.
I do like good Chinese food however.

Yes, you are an exporter as far as your dealings with Chinese, but look around and see who is buying up the rights (not just purchasing the products) to your natural resources. Different approach maybe, but same result in the end.

You got that part right, they are buying the oil fields and any other natural resources that they can get their hands on.
Push is going to turn to shove when they decide to take Formosa back. The $h!t will really hit the fan at that time. They are increasing spending on their navy at an incredible rate. They bought a Russian aircraft carrier which they ripped apart in a reverse engineering effort and they are now building they own, very modern carriers.
I still like General Tao Chicken and Hunan Dumplings with sesame sauce.
