Committee rejects online posting of health care bill

The Senate reject the idea of posting the health care bill online for at least 72 hours before voting on it.

WHY?

Because Baccus says, "It would take 2 or 3 WEEKS to post it online!"
Is this true?
Are they totally out of step with modern devices?
Is this the same Guv. that is overpaying a company to simply IMPROVE the money tracking website? Paying $5 million for work that should be well less than 1/10th of that number.
Couldn't they ask that company to post the health care bill online for an xtra couple of mill?
And if it did take 2 or 3 weeks [and EVERYONE knows that is BS] SO WHAT? 2013 is the planned implementation target. Taking 3 weeks and 3 days to have an intelligent vote seems LOGICAL.

Latest poll says 83% of the PUBLIC would like the 72 hour online posting and only 17% say no. 0% that don't know.

I thought one law makers comment on this issue was enlightening. So what if they post it 72 hours in advance? He wouldn't have enough time to call in a team of lawyers to help him read and understand it anyway. :)

Makes a lot of sense, with thousands of pages of "legalise" 72 hours isn't a drop in the bucket to get a handle on what your voting for.

Baccus lies. Although it's a huge number of pages, there is no doubt that it's also in automated form, on a server or PC. With T-1 line, it could be loaded in under 3 minutes to the internet. It's something I could easily do, something that any of us can easily do.

If they really think it is such a problem to publish it due to size/complexity, it underscores why the Administration and Congress need to step back and take the time necessary to fully analyze what is being proposed instead of just passing something as fast as possible.

What difference would it make, all the republicans will vote no, so why would it matter to them, it's just a stalling tactic, and this is just one bill out of one committee, when it gets to a final bill, it might be appropriate, for now though we know what the party of NO! will do.

cobra de capell 09-30-2009 12:34 PM

Is that the blooter point of view? Thanks for sharing.

mdmull 09-30-2009 12:43 PM

Might be appropriate???????
They don't want it posted online prior to voting because it would make it necessary for THEM to read it also. They're too important to waste that time, they need to raise $$$$ for their reelection campaigns.

For all those that believe that spelling the liar's name is more important than the lies he tells,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,pity.
