Never mind, I spoke too soon. For some reason, I was convinced it was a bent valve. But when I pulled the head off I find a blown gasket. No evidence of piston to valve contact.

I need engine help. I recently rebuilt my engine, repalcing the entire valve train.

Dart block, 427W. Dart 195 heads.
Comp Cams 35-776-8, 304/314*, .608"/.608. Intake valve closes at 86*
Comp Cams recommended springs PN 986. 1.430 OD, 322 pounds/inch, 293# open load
Ford roller lifters, modified by you.

During assembly, I clayed all of the pistons, and there's plenty of clearance.

I assembled the engine about a month ago, and have about 700-800 miles on it. I went to the track yesterday. I was upshifting from 3 to 4 at about 5,000 rpm's, and I bent an intake valve.

Is this a valve spring issue? If so, can you recommend a better spring set?

Is there something else that might cause this?

    Thanx for your help.
