Default Mile Hi Cobra Club - August Car Show and Aspen or Bust

How about this weather? Good enough for a Cobra Drive. Are we lucky or what? Live in Colorado and own the coolest car. What a combination.

The Poker Run was great. Check out the web site (www.milehicobraclub.com) for pictures soon. We had 15 cars show up and did a great drive through Denver and ended up at Golden Gate Canyon Park (Hiway 46 is a great Hiway for Cobras) for our lunch. Big thanks to Keith and Tracy Lewis, Chris Brungardt, Tom and Marcee Scofield and Candy Thompson for all their help.

It was decided that we will have a cancellation policy for the club events that require us to pay as a group. In other words, if we are ordering food for you and you do not show up, we will have to charge you for the expense. We do not make a profit on any thing we do and do try to cut the costs as close as we can. In most cases we will be able to accept 24 hours notice on cancellation. We might need to change this policy to accommodate some events and you will be advised. As always, if there are any questions, please let a club officer know.

Two major reminders for August:

1) 2nd Annual Wild West Auto Fest. Aug 9th.
We have been invited to participate in the 2nd Annual Wild West Auto
Fest Car Show by the event sponsors, The Denver Mustang Club. The show
is a part of the first weekend of activities associated with the 75th
Anniversary of the Western Welcome Week celebrations in Littleton. Here
are the details:

Where: Arapahoe Community College (ACC), 5900 S. Santa Fe, Littleton
(all parking will be on grass)
When: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (we will need to arrive by 7:30 for set up)
Cost: $30 entry per car; free admission for spectators
Cars: All makes and models welcome!

If we can get 10 cars to sign up, the Mustang Club will make make a
special class for us.
This event is approaching quickly. If you are interested in the event,
please contact Dave White (303-791-7222) no later than August 3.
We will pre-stage at another location (Like Echo Star) and then all travel to the show together. We will get to park together in a Snake Pit.
Please also note that the event welcomes all makes and all models; so those of you with other cars, give that a thought too. This is a very laid back show and should be enjoyable.
Go to Click here: http://www.denvermustangclub.com/ to get a registration form. You need to enter as "Other" COBRA REPLICA. If you would just like to come to the show and not be judged, write "Show Only - Do not Judge" on the registration form. Then call Dave White and let him know to expect you for the show. This could be fun and it is being run by the same people who started the Clement Park show and ran it when it was fun.

2) Mile Hi Cobra Club 3rd Annual Aspen or Bust. August 14 to 17.
If you are planning on this trip, call Snowmass Mountain Chalet no later than August 3. Rate is still only $89 per room per night and includes covered parking. Call them at 800-843-1579 to reserve your room. Then call or email me to let me know you are coming.
Plans are as follows:
Thursday 8/14- Drive to Aspen. Relax and enjoy the pool. Dinner on your own.
Friday 8/15 - We are thinking of White Water Rafting Trip (Not in the Cars) Cost would be $63 per person. This would take better part of the day. Get us back to hotel by dinner at the Naked Lady Restaurant (Next door to hotel). Then an after dinner cruise to Aspen. Tom and Marcee Scofield are working on this. Let them or me know if you are interested in Rafting.
Saturday 8/16 - Working on a cruise for lunch. Joe Cockers is closed and the Redstone Castle could be closed by the IRS, so we are working on a plan. Roger Hightower (From Grand Junction) is working on a cruise and will have further details soon. We then are thinking about a Dude Ranch Country Dinner. The Lazy 7 Ranch is on the way up to Maroon Bells and will give us a full country spread for only $49 each. Are you interested in this? Let me know yea or nea.
Sunday 8/17 - Breakfast at the hotel and then drive home.
We are inviting the Corvette and Viper people along on this trip also.
If you have any other ideas for things to do in Aspen, let me (303-699-4819)or Tom Scofield (720-344-9020) know.

Default Events over Labor Day Weekend

Dick,

I am planning to drive my Cobra from Texas to Colordo over the Labor Day weekend. I am looking for an event that weekend as my reason for heading your direction. (Last year it was the Grand Prix and classic car racing that weekend.) I belong to the Texas Cobra Club and was wondering if your club might be having an event or if you knew of an event that I could check out.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Franklin,

Sorry it took me so long to respond to your message. We (the Mile Hi Cobra Club) went to Aspen for the weekend. Had a great trip. Will have photos posted later this week on our web site. Had a total of 12 Cobras with us during the 4 day trip.
Check out www.milehicobraclub.com

A good reason to head our way any time of the year is how wonderful Colorado is for driving your Cobra. We have the beautiful Rocky Mountains to enjoy and we do enjoy them. Lots of roads with lots of twists for fun.

We (Mile Hi Cobra Club) are planning a Sunday drive on 8/31. We do not have all the details worked out yet, but will later this week. We are going to end up in Victor, Co for lunch after a morning drive. Victor is close to Cripple Creek which offers gambling. So, some will go to Cripple Creek after lunch and test their luck. Keep the title to the car at home. Check out the web site for details on this trip later this week. I will also post the details on this site for your information.

Dick

Default Colorado Trip

Dick,

Thanks for the information. I will watch for th posting for the 8/31 drive. I would like to join you. Maybe I can interest some of your members into coming to the annual Texas Meet. Last year we had 70 Cobras there - we are trying to 100 next year. Some came from as far away as California.

Frank
