Gary Patrick and Keith Hall are getting it up and running again. A huge thank you to Tom Toledo and Scott Piper for their help also on the site. We will have the best site around soon.
Next event to plan on is the annual meeting. Jan 17, 2004. 9:00AM at EchoStar on South Santa Fe (5701 S.Santa Fe Blvd. Enter from Santa Fe on Church St. Go to the gate, press the intercom and tell the guard you are with the car club. After going through the dirt parking lot, go left toward the detached building. The meeting will be in this detached building on the far South end of the campus.) Coffee and Donuts will be provided by LaMars Donuts. We will be collecting dues for 2004 so bring check or cash. $35. We will also be electing officers for 2004. If you have always wanted to be an officer, now is your chance. Officers are President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Let me or any board member know if you wish to run for office. We would like all Candidates to supply us with a short paragraph about them selves prior to the meeting. The current officers (Dick Thompson, Gary and JoAnne Patrick and Scott and Karen Piper) have agreed to run again for 2004. If you do not want to be an officer, but would like to volunteer, please let us know this also. We will be discussing what we did this last year that worked as well as what we did that did not work well. Bring ideas to make this club even better. What do you like to do with your car and how can we help?
We are also planning on placing an order for MHCC Shirts and Hats. We will take orders at the meeting for these. Please bring a check for these as well, as we do need to prepay for these items.
This is so cool !!!!!!!!!!!
Kit Car Magazine has offered to do a feature story on our club. For the feature they will include 6 or 7 of our cars. This is a chance for you to get your car in Kit Car Magazine. Here is what you have to do.
1) Pay your 2004 dues ($35). Either at the meeting on 1/17 at EchoStar or by mail to MHCC, 6732 W Coal Mine Ave #127, Littleton, CO. 80123-4573 prior to 1/12/04.
2) Either bring 4 pictures of your car to the meeting or mail them with the dues. No old Polaroids, shodowy, out of focus prints, reprints or digital images that are not high-resolution. They need crisp, clear, well lit photos. Take your time and take photos you can proud of. Examine your car and find the best angle, with the sun low in sky. If you use digital photography, the shots MUST be at least 300 dpi at a minimum of 5x7 inches, or 1,200 pixels by 1,600 pixels. Be prideful and take great shots of your car.
3)Also bring or send info on who the mfg of the body shell is, who made the chassis &engine. What Horse Power, etc. Where do you live and who are you. Something about what you do with the car and any fun experiences you have had with it. In other words, be proud of your car.
4) We will have a drawing at the meeting to select the 7 winners. We will put your name in a hat and then draw out the winners.
If we get these pictures to Kit Car Magazine by Feb. we will be in the July magazine.
I told you this was cool. Didn't I ?????
You can also get your car featured on our Web Site (
www.milehicobraclub.com) For this we need 4 digital shots of your car and the same short discription that you are preparing for the magazine. This is for dues paying members only.
The Mile Hi Cobra Club is pleased to announce their first Cruise Colorado event. We are inviting all Cobra's to join us on the great long weekend we have planned for the summer of 2004.
The group will be departing Denver on July 21. The first stop is Crested Butte, CO. From there, we head to Durango on the 22nd. With all the great attractions in Durango, we will be staying over on the 23rd. We have a number of recommended outings which include Silverton by train or car. On the 24th we head to Glenwood Springs, CO. A soaking in the hot springs will be appreciated after this relatively long day. On the 25th we head back to Denver through Glenwood Canyon and past Vail or over Independence Pass.
For the entry fee of $30.00 for MHCC members and $35 for non-members you will get a few goodies including a shirt, maps, directions, etc. The entry fee will be used to cover club expenses and all remaining money will be donated to the Colorado State Patrol's widows organization. We are working with various manufacturer's to provide limited sponsorship in exchange for a logo on our shirts.
Our intent is to have a fun weekend of driving and sightseeing. Therefore, we are creating an informal event that will allow small groups to set their own pace and take side-trips without fear of holding up the group. The only official planned event is a dinner on Saturday evening in Glenwood.
We will supply a list of recommended hotels in each town soon and everyone will need to make their own reservations. Dan Melson has volunteered to supply a truck and trailer for a support vehicle. For those that may trailer in to Denver, we have a lot where you can park your trailer and tow vehicle. Cobra ownership is not required but initially we would like to restict participants to Cobra enthusiasts and our club members. If you are coming from the South or West, you may want to join in with us beginning in Gunnison or Durango. As we will be going over some pretty high passes along the way and because you will be starting out at our mile high altitude, those running carbs are strongly urged to re-jet down 2 to 4 jet size numbers.
Final details are being worked out and we will be posting the latest information and registration forms on Milehicobraclub.com
For additional information, please contact me, Gary Patrick, at
gary.patrick@milehicobraclub.com or call me at 303-979-4977.
We will be going on this trip whether we have 5 or 50 cars. We'd like to have as many of you as possible join us!
Regards,
Gary Patrick
