I do not know how many of you know of Craig Hassler. Craig is one of our members (Mile Hi Cobra Club) who has just had his second heart attack. He is about 85% complete on his construction of a Factory Five Racing Cobra. Because of the health problems and the financial problems they have created, Craig has to sell his project.
This is were the Mile Hi Cobra Club comes in. I think it would be wonderful for us as a club to finish the car for Craig. I have volunteered the club for this. Craig has accepted my offer. Craig is under going some tests right now, which should help him and his family with some decisions. He is going to take a couple of weeks and then will call me to let me know when we can start on the car. The plan is that we will be the workers for Craig to direct on this project. We are not there to reinvent the wheel, just get them on the car. I also think we should limit the people to actual workers who know what they are doing. I think it would be okay for some to observe (Might be a good learning experience for some who have not put a car together to see how it is done), but think that we limit the actual workers to 6 or so people, so we are not getting each others way. Tom Toledo, Gary Patrick and I will go over to Craig's and work up a plan once he is ready for us. I am thinking a couple of weekends and we will get the car on the road. (My job is pizza and beer runner)
A lot of discussion on FFR site (
www.ffcobra.com) about a raffle. Good idea, but we as a club cannot do it because we are not a charity. I understand the laws of Colorado are very tough on Charities doing Raffles, so I would like to let someone else run the raffle and support it with purchase of the tickets.
What I need now is a list of who would like to help work on the car. Please let me know if you are and when you will be available. I am thinking we work on the car 3/13 and 14 and 3/20 and 21. (this can change if it does not work into Craig's plans)
I would also ask that all of you keep Craig and his family in your prayers.
Dick
