Cobra Make, Engine: I want to Build a 4.6 FFR

Default Is Klode Salvage a good place for a Donor?

Hello everyone, my name is Pete, I am just starting the process to get ready to build my first Cobra. While I am still open to suggestions at this point, I am planning to go with a FFR kit with a 4.6 Modular engine. Sounds like a late model Cobra and Mach 1 have the DOHC 4 valve, as well as an 8.8 rear end from the Mach 1, and IRS from the Cobra. I’d love to be able to get the super charged Cobra SVT monster, but I’ve heard they are rare.

The reason for this posting is to first, introduce myself, and second to ask if any of you have had good luck finding salvaged vehicles at Klode salvage. I’m considering paying my $150 registration fee and then watch for my dream Cobra SVT to show up. If I get tired of waiting, it looks like I should have no trouble getting a regular Cobra or Mach 1.

Suggestions and advice welcomed.

Pete,

I do not know any thing about Klode Salvage, so will pass your question on to the members of the Mile Hi Cobra Club. You should check us out at www.milehicobraclub.com

Your plans sound great. Hope to see you and your Cobra soon.

Dick

Pete,

I finally got some answers (sort of) to your question. Klode Salvage is an OK place to buy a parts car, but the biggest problem is that you need to be there when the good stuff comes up for sale. Or have someone who will be there. A suggestion for you is that you post what you are looking for on the FFR web site. Lots of people there could help you find the right car and also give you a heads up on the supplier. I hear that there are some who will send you all the needed parts on a pallet ready to go. That way you do not have to remove them and then dispose of the junk afterwards.
