Well, it is here!!!

The new fiberglass body arrived yesterday!! Now body gets to meet chassis for the first time, in real life. They have met many times in the computer world but this the the first real meeting.

I have designed a "Curbside" frame that will allow the modeler to just build the body to the level you would see if the car were parked along the street. The modeler can just build the body, tires/wheels, cockpit and exterior trim and show the car in a curbside fashion. Then if they want to they can build the frame and engine up and display it as a separate display too.

The Pics that have the tires mounted on the roadster is using this curbside frame. So far things are looking pretty good. I will to tweak the front bumper a little, but so far so good.

Well here are some body pics. I did not attempt to fit up the doors, hood, and trunk at this time. I just roughed them in to help you get a good view of the lines of the body. Final fit of these parts is down the road.

Oh, and just for FYI, the body only weighs about 1.5 pounds. That is a whole lot better than you would get if you made the body out of resin!!!

We are in the final stages of nailing the entire kit down at this time.

I know I have not been posting here like I want to. I have been busy doing the final computer tweaks to the Roadster. We do have someone doing a complete build up of the Roadster on a modeling website though. Here is a link to that site.

http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/...-roadster.html

The person doing this build up is taking the TDR 427 Roadster to a finishing level that is way above what I can do right now on my kit.

The body is done and will not be changed anymore. We are currently debating whether we want to offer the body separately at this time. If you want to talk this over more, please contact me directly at

TDR.innovations@gmail.com

Thanks

I met Daytona Tim today at NNL East model show in New Jersey and I saw the unassembled 1/8th scale Shelby Cobra. I gotta tell you, this model is big, and is as detailed as any scale model you'll ever see. The fiberglass body, just like most of the cars here, is dead-nuts on and the chassis is built from blueprints of the original big block Cobra chassis. Also, it has aluminum interior and firewall panels that look as good as ERA or Kirkham. Most of the chassis components bolt together and are quite accurate. This model is a labor of love. If you want a large-scale replica of a 427 Street Cobra (or your own replica) for your trophy room, this model is for you. It can also be built as an S/C or full competition model. I also saw a Tremec gearbox that could be fitted. Definitely has the potential to be a museum-quality Cobra model.

Bringing this back to the top, does anyone know the status of the kit or prototype?

I'd guess the project is DOA.

Daytonatim hasn't posted since #23 (4/3/11), and the Scalemotorcars link is dead. Too bad, would have been interested.
