Fall Foliage Run 2010 / Discussion / Film Crew / News
Wanted to get the discussion on the Fall Run rolling early since it usually sneaks up on us and then people have other plans. My intent this year is to get it on paper for the first Saturday in October. The date would be 10/2/2010. The following weekend is Columbus Day Weekend for reference.
I think we will return to the original format from the first year with a rally point to eat and find a way to get some more time with the photo ops on the bridges etc.
Here are some exciting items for this year:
1.) We have been approached by a film crew to cover the drive for a new TV show. They will be doing a ride along with a couple cameras and interviews as we go.
2.) If everything goes according to plan we (Vintage) will be in our new larger shop in North Haven, CT and we will be happy to host everyone for the start or finish depending on final plan.
3.) We (Vintage) plan to offer some form of prizes or awards for a couple simple categories like longest distance, wildest car/color, manuf. with most cars, etc.
What say you?

Looks like a great time. Can I have some details on where to meet, where the drive goes, etc. I would be interested in going.

I'm (we are) for any route which is short on lights and stop signs, and long on 4th and 5th gear cruising. This includes the Wilbur Cross, Merritt Parkway, Route 8, and Route 63. Is there a prize for the oldest driver?

Sounds great to make it an annual event. I hope we can make it this year as well. Thanks for the heads up.

I am considering getting this a little more legit and wondering if everyone would be on board with a $35 per person fee if it meant the lunch at the restaurant was all taken care of and you got an event T-Shirt and a Windshield Sticker to go with it?

Generally we start the main portion of the drive around 10am to allow drivers from satellite meeting spots to join us. Then we run about 2 hours, 1 hour lunch stop, 2-3 hours to wrap up with the stops.
So you have about 4 hours drive time with 2 hours of mingling out of the cars.

I think the pre-pay for the shirts and lunch is a good idea. Not saying I'm loving the "brown" but count me in for 2 of whatever you choose. Despite a prior committment, the wife and I are still planning on going. The bro-in-law bought a house in New Milford and planned a bash for that Saturday. As long as we are still doing the loop through Litchfield, we'll just break off somewhere in the area / after lunch. Pray for sun!
Mike.

A brown T-Shirt is perfect for eating all types of BBQ, there is no chance of stains!
