Default Last chance foliage run

Starting to plan a ride for next Sunday, Oct 24th.

First rally point: 10:00 AM Community House Park, Southbury, CT

Second Rally point: 10:45 AM Black Rock State Park, Watertown, CT

Third Rally Point: 11:30AM Bunnell Farm, 498 Maple Street, Litchfield, CT

Fourth Rally Point: 12:30PM Kent Falls State Park, Cornwall Bridge, CT

Fifth Rally Point: 1:30PM Hopkins Inn, Warren, CT
And a cruise around Lake Waramaug

Sixth Rally Point: Run Ends Rich's ice cream Oxford CT
All times are approximate!
Brief description:
We will start/ meet at Community House Park in Southbury, right off exit 15 on I 84. Then to Black rock state park to relax for a bit via Rt 6. Then on to Bunnell Farms in Litchfield via Rt 254 for some cider and socializing. Then to Kent falls state park via Rt 4. Then to Hopkins Inn/Lake Waramaug via Rt 341, we can also cruise around the lake.
As far as eating goes, we can either stop at Hopkins Inn which is also a Vineyard for a glass of wine or a complete very nice dinner. The meals are a tad expensive, but very good. Appetizers are 2-8 dollars, entrees are from 20-27 dollars. Awesome view of the lake. They don't serve lunch on Sunday, it is only dinners from 12 noon on. The other option is for everyone to bring their own lunch and we can all eat at any of the public picnic areas around the lake, which are also very nice. Please post on this thread which you would rather do, majority decides! Last stop will be Rich's Ice cream in Oxford CT via Rts 47, 199, 67 for dessert. If you have never been to this place, you are in for a treat! Just voted CT best ice cream last week, great place, great ambiance, fantastic ice cream, and the crowd there will go nuts for the Cobras!!!
This route will be close to 3 hours of driving time and 2-3 hours of non driving time. So at the most, it will be a 6 hour event. So between 4pm and 5pm, everybody should be home.
Please post to this thread all who are interested in going, I will take a head count on Thursday, for reservations at Hopkins if that is what we decide to do for food.
Right now they are calling for partly cloudy and 58 deg. This is a fair weather only ride, if there is any significant chance of rain, this will be a no go.

Hi Dave.

Sounds awsome. Just need to check with the wife on this one. We have a wedding this weekend and would depend on how much partying we do.

Hey Dave:

Great crusin' with you this past weekend. I'm jammed up both days this coming weekend and unfortunately can't make it. Sounds like you've mapped out a great run. Wendy and I usually never miss a ride up to Hopkins / Lake Waramaug in the Fall (where my avitar pic was taken). Get the "Spatzel" at the restaurant. Good Stuff!

Mike.

P.S. Please have your lovely lady send copies of those phone pics she took. Would love to see them!

Did you see the video Gary made (see link earlier in this thread). i have got all the pics. PM me your email address and I will send them to you!
Dave
PS: I will try to PM you my email address and you can send me an email, then I will have your address

Looking at the weather Sun there is a 30% chance of showers and not a very nice looking day. Saturday though looks much better, all sun with 0% chance of rain. 62 deg for a high!
So it looks like this ride is going to get moved to Saturday
I lost my blinkers last night on the way home, i am going to take the steering wheel off tonight and see about re-soldering the wire like I did 2 years ago. well, so much for my soldering skills!!

Hi David,

Karen and I are thinking of driving down from MA again this week, if the ride is still a go for Saturday. We'll meet you at Black Rock State Park.

It is a go no matter what. I lost my blinkers due to a broken wire in the steering column harness. Real PIA to fix due to its location. I will be there in Something, either the Cobra, Harley or Mustang

I just called Hopkins and made Lunch reservations for 1:30pm. I made it for 7 people, I can ALWAYS CALL AND INCREASE IT IF OUR NUMBER GROWS!
They will be serving lunch because it is Saturday and not Sunday, hence the prices are much better...lol

8am, it looks like a deal nice day outside. Spent all day working on my car...fixed, but what a PITA!!! While having the steering wheel off and column apart I did a mod to the shaft and now I have turn signal cancelers! They work great. Now I won't be one of those guys driving 1/2 way around the world with my signal light on looking like a dork!
Cmon now, we have all done it!

Thanks for putting this together Dave. Lunch was great, as was the tour around the lake. The afternoon weather and temps were amazing. What a wonderful spot. We gave the tourists a sight they will always remember. Dave, I will PM my E-mail to you in case you lost our "business card". Here is a link to the spats vendor also. http://acroadsterinteriors.com/Spats.html

Carl, Dave, Tiffany and the gang, too bad we missed you at lunch.
