My letter is attached if it's any help to you.
I am writing to you to consider your position on H.B.3149
This bill is to ban the use and sale of any exhaust pipe that increases the sound emission of any vehicle including motorcycles.
There are several considerations to this I feel we need to take into account when deliberating on this bill.
We live up in the salt belt and undercar components such as exhaust and brakes are very subject to short lives in our winters as you know from your own vehicles.
These are both very important safety systems on our cars.
Aftermarket exhausts are often better quality than OEM with improved plating processes or even made from stainless steel.
The standard for measuring noise is only clear for motorcycles which makes it difficult to interpret and consistently enforce with all other vehicles.
Aftermarket exhaust systems and components improve performance, and efficiency without any detrimental effects to emissions. This enables better and safer travel while merging, passing, climbing hills and other day to day driving situations.
I in no way condone, approve of or like listening to excessive noise from any vehicles. I believe law enforcement can enforce excessively and blatantly loud modified vehicles within our current laws and I trust them to do so.
Thank you for your consideration of these points and please bear them in mind when voting on H.B.3149
