OK, that's totally surprising... Everyone wants there cut of the pie. In Colorado they stated that you should add up all those tax free purchases from Amazon and send the state a check. Nevada collects state tax on Amazon purchases.

Phil
Please don't forget when you do your state taxes this year to include purchases you made on line/out of state that was not taxed. The State of Connecticut needs that money, and you are legally required to claim those purchases pn your state return

We have a 330,000,000 shortfall this year in the budget that Dan Malloy has to find

In CT, a cobra gets registered as a composite vehicle. Composite vehicles are exempt from emissions requirements. End of story.

No. Just make sure you buy a rebuilt for an 'older' car. Better off buying an older block and having it rebuilt. A bill of sale would be recommended/required to get through Weathersfield inspection.

Thanks for the info I m concerned because one line in the composit section of the rules states that composite vehicles are exempt and another states that emission controls from the year the engine was manufactured are to be installed

The engine is irrelevant. Reman, old, new, used, blue or orange. Irrelevant. Composite vehicles are exempt.

DMV wants paper on the engine you use. After the reg is completed, no emissions test is required. I've heard a few horror stories about CT DMV, but I went through okay about ten years ago.

In order to register it as a "Classic" or "Vintage Car" -- do you need a re-inspection for that?? If so, does it have to be at Wethersfield, or can it be done at one of the other ones closer to home,..... and does it need to be trailered there?

I've heard it can be done in Hamden, but I would take it to Wethersfield to be sure. They call it a "courtesy inspection" and I don't think there are any fees involved. You can drive to it since the car is already legally on the road yes?

I tried a couple years ago, Frank. They wouldn't let me do it...I even went as far as cancelling my registration and turning in my plates. They said NO, because I'd originally registered it with regular plates. They didn't want to know anything.
PS. It's me, Frank, that guy you know in Meriden with the black ERA 427 Cobra.
