Cobra Life
It's been a while since I've posted. Busy with building a house, selling our current one, and starting to get ready for that father thingy.
Yes, Owning/driving a Cobra is interesting.
Regardless of original or replica, the whole ordeal is one of a kind.
Started off today at a car show in Haddam, where there were a few replicas, 2 or 3 FFR's, my ERA, and one unknown.
Seems like the unknown owner had something to prove since he was the only drive that spun the wheels throwing dirt and grass, and yet he felt it necessary to scribe 1967 AC Cobra on his window tag. I guess he's not to proud of his or his manufacturers workmanship since ha had to fake the year and make.
From the car show. I went for a ride along the coast where I ended up in Southeastern CT. I guess the majority of the people there are unfamiliar with the type of car since most of the discussions I had went like this:
"...yep, my buddy built a Lamborghini like that with a Volkswagen frame. Boy is my buddies a fast car. I bet it could beat that thing. What is that thing anyway?" and, “you must have at least half the cost of a real one into that thing." So I said, "Don't tell my wife. If she knew I had $200k in to a car, she kill me." and the guys eyes got really BIG.
or...
"...what kind of motor is in that thing, a V8?"
Nice to see we are spurring the interest, yet everywhere I turned, I saw a Honda with a coffee can for a muffler.
Too bad about the jerk at the car show. No need to act like that. He must have been in his late 50's or so. By then you should have learned something in life. This coming from someone 1/2 his age.
I think building the car was more fun than driving it. Might be time to sell and buy a F350, small Kubota, build a barn, wood shop, and settle down. Now that I have a replica of myself on the way.
I guess I'm too old for this.
