I'm currently trying to get covered by American Collectors. They're the only company I could find that would write a policy in La. for Cobras. You have to mail in an application with photos, etc and they get back to you regarding coverage. It takes 10-14 days. Which kinda sucks. Mileage is limited to 2500.

Might want to try Northeast Classic Auto Insurance, if you haven't already. Talk to Michael Smith 1-800-866-6440. In Texas, $50000, 3000 miles yearly-$353, 6000 miles-$472. Can mail in payment, when recieved coverage right then.

Hi Sal:
I do not know American Collector but have had dealings with Northeast Classic Auto. / American Modern Insurance. Mike Smith is the contact there and they are in Monroe, CT 800-866-6440.
You may also want to try Classic Automobile Insurance Agency 800-397-0765 and Brian McNeill is the rep. there.
I have yet to find a firm that will write an umbrella for liability over the Cobra and my other cars. I have to do some work on that.

I have used them in the past for my Challenger and I now with my Cobra. There rate is very reasonable (under 400) a year for a 50,000 value and 2500 miles a year. I asked about extending another 5000 miles and was told 10% more.

I have american colectors, I just renewed it was $194.00 for the year, $35,000.00 agreed value, it does have a 2500 mile limit, that can be raised after the 1st year to 5000 miles, I just have not done it, I just drive mine for pleasure trips

Can those of you who currently have or have had Northeast Classic Auto Insurance say what your experience has been with them? The rates and 6000mi/yr sound great but has anyone ever had a claim or had any good or bad dealings with them? I am about to get my Lister covered by them but would appreciate any insight before I do, especially since I had a pretty hard time getting in touch with the agent (Mike Smith). Once we hooked up everything went well but it still nags at me a little that it seems like he is a one man show. I did check out the underwriter and parent company and things looked pretty sound financially.

Art,
Connecticut Life & Casualty Insurance Company in Meriden, CT, issued my $1000,000 umbrella that cover all my cars including the Cobra.
But, they wouldn't issue primary isurance on the Cobra so I'm using MetLife through Condon & Skelly for that.

No problems!!!
Sal,
I've had American Collectors Ins. on my Cobra for the past 5 years with very reasonable rates... Just insured the Gt-40 with them also... Easy to deal with... No claims so far and I want to keep it that way...
