Default Lobster Run to Mystic Area on 5-30-04

Hey Guys:
The weather forecast for Sunday is Sunny and Dry (as of Wednesday night). Is anyone out there interested in making a Lobster Run to the Mystic/Watch Hill area on Sunday?

Traffic would be relatively light both ways. I know of a neat place just outside of Mystic where we could grab lunch (picnic tables). We could cruise through Mystic and/or Misquamicut/Watch Hill and have an early dinner at "Abbott's Lobster in the Rough" in Noank. There is also a vineyard in the area. Any thoughts?

Also, is anyone doing Lime Rock on Friday or Saturday?

Yeah...I'm thinkin' if this were about two months later, I'd be able to join you guys. Planning lunch at the Cove Fish Market, perhaps? I sure am: mid July! And we'll have at least one dinner at Abbott's. Unfortunately, though, we'll have a rental car instead of the Cobra.

Have a great weekend.

Working this weekend, can't even go to Lime Rock for the races. Hope you all have a good time. Sunday the forecast is good, Monday may be a rain out.

Hey Stu:
I've been at Lime Rock for the past 2 days, the racing was teriffic.

Everybody Else:
The current plan (9AM Sunday) is to be at the Madison McDonalds (on I95) at 11:00am. Lunch in Mystic (crabcakes or lobster roll) cruise Watch Hill and Misquamicut, ice cream or whatever at some point, pictures along the way and then head home with the sun up.

Blue skies are predicted.

So sorry I was forced to miss this run with you all. However, I and my wife did get on the road at about 1:30 PM on Sunday. We went on 95 towards Branford and then took Route 1 along the coast all the way up to Clinton. Stopped for some Judy's French bread in Gilford (Bishops) and made a few antique stops along the way. After coffee in Madison (Willoby's) with a visit to R. Julia books we took 145 north to route 80 and then cruised route 80 back to West Haven and then back home.

Wow what a wonderful day to drive!

The weather was super and the sunlight was so intense and and the air so clear it reminded me of Arizona.

On the way back home on 95 we were surrounded by a pack of Harley riders and ridettes who gave us the thumbs up. We rode as a pack for a ways.

Harley riders have a certain affinity towards Cobras. I am convinced of that. I do not know if it is the exhaust note or the what but they do. We even got some waves from a gagle of Corvettes on Rt 80 (go figure!?)

Did you all meet up and how did your ride go? Hope you had a Lobsta' for me amigo's!

What a GREAT ride. We ended up taking 95 north to Rt 1 through Mystic and stopped for some crabe cake burgers. Headed up Rt1 through Misquamicut and a tour through Watch Hill where the poor folks live. Back onto Rt. 1 and up to Point Judith to our final stop at George's in Galilee on the water. The weather was PERFECT. Thanks for having me along Bob and Noreen.

Hey Guys:
We had our usual big crowd of two Cobras on Sunday. Nonetheless Todd Buttrick my wife Noreen and I had a fabulous day in what could only be described as perfect weather! We started out in Madison, cruised up I95 to Mystic. Showed off the machinery in downtown Mystic and stopped at the Cove Fresh Fish Market on the east side of town. Lunch was outside at one of the many picnic tables. I went with the Crab Burger.

After lunch we cruised Watch Hill, Misquamicut and Weekapaug under a cool but crystal clear blue sky. They had the money and the mansions, but we had the Cobras. Who's better than us? From there is was off to Point Judith, RI via Route 1. This road provided a wonderfully paced ride with enough curves to make it great fun. In Point Judith we had drinks at George's overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. I sprang for the drinks, unfortunately Todd had sprung for parking which cost about twice as much (thanks Todd!).

It was now approaching 4 and it was time to head back. We again cruised down Route 1 to Westerly where we hopped onto I95 and headed home.

It was a fun day with great weather! Although we never exceeded the posted speed limits it was still an exhilerating ride that we may never forget.
