Great event, approx 25 race cars made the event to establish times up the Toll Road of Mount Washington. However, there were no Cobras.
As a matter of interest, for the Elevation Gain of 4,721 ft in 8 miles with an average grade of 12%. final 50 yards are 22%:
Caroll Shelby set the record in 1956 in a Ferrari with a time of 10 min 21.8 sec. Current record in 1998 is an Audi Quattro with a time of 6 min 41.99 sec.
For those that have never been to MT Washington, great place to visit

I concur that Mt Washington is a great place to visit. For that matter, the White Mtns area has many natural attractions and scenic driving loops through the various mtn notches. All close to numerous lodging and restaurants. I am not a Chamber of Commerce member, but I live in the shadow of Mt Washington in North Conway. Hope to have my car in a couple weeks and welcome anyone to come up to the area for some scenic cruising.

An interesting event for sure. The joint winner Kris is right round the corner from me. Those guys race against their own time for consistency and can get within an amazing 1/2 second of it. All that in a vintage Pikes Peak race car, immaculately restored to original, able to spin the wheels at will IN THE RAIN !!

I took the family up that mountain in the late 70's in a '73 Ford LTD wagon. When I got home I needed to do a complete brake job!

My mum visited us from New Zealand. When we took her up the Mount she couldn't look out the windows and she crawled across the ground so the wind wouldn't blow her off any edges! It is a hairy ride in a car, never mind a race car, a bike is more fun and you barely use the brakes.
