Great Time
Chuck Gallagher - were you one of the 4 Cobras Sat AM? Who had the other red Cobra there before Jay and I went on our grand tour of the country side? My memory for names is terrible.
Mickmate - no the seat did not fall out on the way home. I actually got a few pictures of Jay's car without you crawling underneath to take pictures. You probably got more dirt on you in a couple of hours than my Cobra did in the entire weekend!
Jay - fantastic time. You have one GREAT Cobra. Had a blast following you and Kristen on our extended drive. I put about 600 miles on the car this weekend ... 200 up, 200 drive and 200 home. Saturday night dinner was fun ... me an Kristen splitting a Key Lime cheesecake for dessert and savoring every single bite ... while you engulfed that sticky dick, or gooyee dick, or slimly dick or whatever the h**l they called it. I went on a 20 minute cruise Sunday AM, and when I got back, you were nowhere to be found. Talked with a few people that stopped by, but I left at 11 AM. You probably took the gondola ride. Correct? On the way home I stopped about every 50 miles for a stretch, and at two of the rest stops, someone came up to me and said they saw me and you while we were on the cruise down Lake Champlain. Small world. One guy said he liked my car but really loved the red Ferrari that was in front of me! hahahahaha
Anyone who participated - I took quite a few photos and they are all too big to post without reducing them. So I will post one here of Jay & Kristen on our drive. I'll probably post a few more, but if anyone would like a CD of my pics, send me an e-mail (wtm442@comcast.net) with your snail mail address. Most of the pics are of my car, Jay's car and shots of the Inne. Even tried taking a movie of the Inne at 6 AM Sunday.
Bye for now ...

Every rest stop on the way up had no shady parking spaces ... so I just drove up on the grass and had a nice turkey sandwich for lunch .... who said you can't park on the grass?

Jay
I don't know if you had any tough decisions to make during the weekend, but what to order for breakfast ... I wanted to order one of everything. Food was fantastic.
Signing off for now ....

Sorry I missed you guys! The thing sort of sounded like it was fizzling out, and I ended up entertaining some friends instead. Glad to see you all did ok without me
I'll keep my eyes peeled for info about the British Invasion.

Just a few cars, but I'm sure it will grow each year. Hey it was the first year, and just because there was a lot of confusion, it did not stop me, Jay and Kristen Bentley from having a good time. And about 4 others supposedly showed up on Sat while we were on tour.

I was in Jays way while he was washing it and your way while photographing it, do you think someone was a little obsessed with the "holy grail"?? The British Invasion sounds like a go. I hope I can get mine sitting on wheels by then.

We certainly ended up having a wonderful ride in great weather accompanied by other Cobra cars, however, it had little to do with any gathering in Stowe!
The bride had contacted the inn and was told the Cobra tour would be departing the facility about 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. We promptly arrived at 11:00 a.m. to be told the touring Cobras had left at 9:30 a.m.!! We were instructed as to the intended route (which proved to be wrong) and headed out on a reverse course to intercept the Cobra Caravan. Upon departing we encountered another Vermont Cobra (Blue CR) who also had been provided the 11:30 a.m. departure time. After driving eighty miles trying to intercept the departed Cobras we had not seen even one sun glint off a chrome roll bar nor any other sign of the group.
Stopping for a delightful lunch we made several cell phone calls and determined that two more of our Cobra friends had arrived at the inn to find the place bereft of Cobras and factual information. We gave them driving instructions to our Vermont home. We returned to the inn and encountered the blue CR Cobra again. It was driven by Marve who resides in Worcester Vermont. He had seen no sign of other Cobras and had also been provided conflicting directions/information.
Another spot of lunch (urp) with these delightful folks and we departed about 3:00 p.m. towards our Vermont mountain retreat. On the way home we stopped in Eden, Vermont to get gas after we saw two more snakes sitting at the service station. It turned out they were our Cobra friends from Quebec. They also had been given faulty instructions as to departure times and the tour route.
We joined company and motored back to our home to find two more Cobras sitting in the drive…as per the earlier cell phone calls.
In short, on Sunday the five snakes toured northern New Hampshire and Maine in beautiful weather and we eventually escorted our Canadian brethren to their border crossing and home. A great gathering that was dimmed only by the boondoggle of the previous day.
I have long looked forward to bringing my newly restored 67 XKE roadster to the British Car Invasion this year…..I’m rethinking those plans…

Yes there was some confusion regarding the first Cobras in the Mountains. But after talking with Chris Francis, he plans on doing things differently next year. Not all of the problems were his fault. Some were his fault like losing a bunch of telephone numbers from people that asked questions. There were only a few registered at the Inne. So he told me before I went that he would do what every the majority of owners that showed up wanted to do. He is a busy man running the Inne, a couple of town councils, and other shows that are succesful, like the British Invasion, which brings in over 1000 cars from great lengths.
So I intend to attend next year - I had a lot of fun. And there AIN'T too many Cobra shows/gatherings within 200 miles of my house (no trailer).
PS to anyone planning to attend British invasion - check out the website previously mentioned. I believe that you have to pre-register and I think someone said that Cobras would be in class # 53 for replicars.

Hey Jay
The little knob with the cable towards the center looks like the trip meter reset we were looking for.

Hey Jay, I found Jims name on something with a little more bling than yours. Makes a hood scoop look small and safe!
