Good Cobra mechanic near Portsmouth NH?
Any leads? I have called a few places and no one sounds confident about working on one of these beasts. No major problems, just some initial glitches, and would be good to have someone for general maintenance. Thanks in advance.

Tim,
Not sure what to tell you. I would sugest cars.com and then go to the car talk area. They have a thing called the Mecan-x files. People recomend local repair shops for particular makes. Or maybe go to a good speed shop and ask who works on fords.
I was down your way Friday night with another cobra. We started in Salisbury and drove up the cost to the Ice cream/ clam sack on 1B near the Wentworth. we saw 2 other Cobras both heading south. Either of them you??

Ah, the Ice House. Great stuff, best fried clams on the coast. Wasn't me, I havent seen another Cobra in the state ever. 4 in the same place might be a record!
As for a mechanic, the search goes on, maybe the Mustang club would be my best bet.

Tim,
Your mention of the Mustang club is excelent. I should have thought of it. The NH club is run by Rick Lacross. He has a Factory 5 that he built. He knows most everyone in the state who works on fords. (He is a mecanic himself, working for a volvo dealer i believe) Another good place to ask would be the Factory five forum. There are several active members on that site from your general area.
Watch this site for news of a new monthly get together. Details in a few days

Allison (Allisonic) is over your way somewhere I forget the name of the town. She has a blue/white FFR. Laconia Nationals is end of this month. I saw a blue SPF there last year. What do you need done?

Stalls at red lights, no matter how much I turn the idle screw. Engine coughs under acceleration, and just doesnt feel smooth, probably needs some minor adjustment. Brakes squeal like a pig for the first 3 or 4 uses, then quiet down after that, don't know if thats a problem. Just last week the car left me stranded w/ a dead battery, for no reason I could think of. Plus, general maintenance going forward.
A good mechanic is like gold, would be great to have one recommended. Thanks all, -t

You should be able to find someone over that way. I see a lot of interesting old toys on the road whenever I'm over there. If you can't find someone locally and think it would stand a trip inland an hour I bet we could clear up most of your punch list between us.

Tim,
I have one, I will PM you. He is just the other side of Nashua and has built 4 or 5 CCX cars. I was out this past Saturday in Manchester to seacoast area. I saw a Black FFR in Seabrook and an ERA in Hopkinton area. I want to have a get together this year at my house for NH location guys. Lets pick a date..... It would be fun to all meet and take some group rides on occasion. My cell # is (820) 376-7388 if you want to start an informal club? I know that our crowd has little support in this area.
Lets make it happen!

Give a yell if you want to arrange a gathering of snakes, especially if Portsmouth would be a convenient location!

Tim,
We will have to pull together at leat 1 NH cobra get together this season.
I'm thinking maybe something in August to celebrate my car reaching 50,000 miles
Casual spur of the moment cruises on a nice night are great too.

Keep talking guys, I checked the NE Cobra Club calendar and it only listed cruise nights. A good list but not specific to a Granite State Cobra gathering.

Guys, make it to Skips if you can. I'd love to see as many fellow new Hampsters as can make it. (I live in Hollis NH) I agree that there are finaly enough of us to start getting together.
I have the Skips event posted on the FF fourm as well and got a reply from Mike M. in Merrimack. He tossed out the following invite:
Sat. June 24. The grill will be going and cold drinks flowing. The more finished cobras that pull up, the cooler it will be. The paint booth will be set up to undercoat any current area builders that are interested. I'd love to meet more of you guys! 5 Huckleberry Lane, Merrimack NH. Sat June 24!
Great idea on the breakfast! See you soon.
Mike M.
One more chance for us to gather.

Can't make it
The car will not be on the mainland until 9:00 am Saturday, May 20, 2006. The first boat leaves here at 6:30 am arrives Hyannis two and a half hours later. Chelmford is about 100 miles. If I was lucky, I would be there for lunch, or a little before. The first Meeting and I am going to miss it.
Please keep me posted
We will be at Gunstock for the Laconia Nationals next Saturday 27, 2006.

Nantucket427
My brother-in-law and sister own Nantucket Auto Supply which is a stones throw from the airport entrance on Nantucket. If you ever need auto help or info on island, let me know. They also have another auto parts store on Martha's Vineyard ... just got back from a 2 week vacation there. Kinda cool, but I did play golf twice.
Maybe I'll see you off island some time.
Whatever you do, watch out for Mickmate. Bring you car by and you will have to drag him out from underneath it
I will not get up to Skips on Saturday but I'm bringing the Cobra out to be dyno tested ..
Free Food, a Dyno, a bunch of Cobras and thier Cools owners

If you find any power on that dyno you might have to bolt the seat down so you can really drive it...............
