Limerock 2009 - Rolex Festival
Yes it is early,
Dave and I will be driving to the Rolex Festival this year Sept 4-7 as SAAC has proven to be a long drive, in a Cobra, at this point.
We plan to rent an RV and stay in the area for the weekend. Anyone else interested?

Typically we have a very good turnout on Sunday for this. We display the whole weekend so we will see you there.

We'll be there Sunday as well in the Shelby section. It's a great time.

I will be there as well with the GT40. I may camp out this year. That would be fun...

I'll be there on Sunday. Too bad the track wouldn't let us have some parade laps on Saturday or Monday. I'd bet they would sell quite a few more weekend tickets.

I agree. I'm surprised there isn't a Cobra / GT40 parade lap considering the Sunday show brings so many for the weekend...you'd think we'd have some "pull".

There are more of our 'fake' Cobras there than all the other Shelbys, Cobras and GTs combined. And maybe one or two real Cobras racing on Monday. Yes, we should have some clout considering how much income we generate for the track.

Lime Rock operates 6 days per week from March through November. Renting the track for just one day can cost $10,000 to $20,000. The track is doing quite well. The only reason they even have a Sunday Show of Shelbys is because by law they cannot run races on any Sunday. We Cobra owners, as well as others, pay LRP for the privilege of allowing them to make a little more money on what otherwise would be a Saturday/Monday race weekend. We pay to display our toys while others pay to see our cars. On any other weekend LRP will not even give us our own parking.

We should have some kind of event at Thompson Speedway. Thompson was once a road racing track, connected to the oval. They already have a nice vintage race weekend and welcome both vintage stock cars and replicas.

Last year I got 5 laps on LRP during the Phil Hill tribute. What a freakin blast! I'll be there Sat, Sun, and Mon. The show on Sunday is great but the races are even better. The hosts ushered me right to the Rolex paddock for some great parking and show time.
