8/1 and 8/2 Weekend Events - CT Region
Weather is projected to be good for the weekend. Not so good for Wednesday night (planned drive to Bear Mountain, NY). So we are going to offer some events to drive with us to.
Saturday Night August 1st we plan to drive to Marcus Dairy in Danbury, CT. The last time we did not get much turnout but we had a great time despite other owners' apparent lack of interest in driving their cars so we will try it again. Details as we get closer and confirm weather situation.
Sunday August 2nd the big big BIG show on Main Street in Manchester, CT is taking place. This one is 3x or 4x the Middletown Main Street show, so you understand it is very big. Registration starts at 8am so we have to make an effort to get there early. It is a good one and better than those usual sit in your chair in the sun events since it is Main Street based. Details as we get closer and confirm weather situation.
As always, if you understand Twitter and can follow us there it is the best way to get up to the minute info on these types of drives... Twitter info in my signature.

I'd like to do one or the other. I did the Manchester thing last year...almost 1500 cars. I'll keep an eye on the thread.
Note they're grinding and paving I-91 North from Cromwell to Rocky Hill. Lots of ground up pavement and asphalt flying out there.

Last Friday I drove from West Haven to Stafford Springs and back. There is lots of newly milled pavement on both 91 and 84. If the weather is good we will probably do the Marcus Dairy run.

For Sunday if you want to meet at our shop around 9am we can get there via:
68 > 157 > 66 > 17
A nice drive. There's no milling on 15 so anyone can get to our shop via that.

Thompson Speedway, for one. Lot of history there, including road racing back in the sixties. Maybe some kind of East Coast version of run 'n gun or something like it. Lots of possibilities for the guy who is good with organizing. Lots of rural roads up there too.

I was at Marcus Dairy 7/24 and it was pretty poor. Didn't really look like rain but maybe people thought that might be the case. I'll give it one more try before I bail on Marcus and just go to the Sycamore in Bethel, CT.

We have some great scenic roads, great places to have lunch with good parking for the cars. Of course a stop at my house for a drink if anyone is interested. Just a thought.
Saturday nights in Putnam, Ct there is a pretty good cruise night that usually brings in 300+ cars.
Think about the northeast.
PS. I'm usually game for a Mystic, Ct ride along the shore also.

Hey Jay, you have the Pomfret winery too, and the classic route 169 drive.

We do the winery and Vanilla Bean run occasionally with a few cars. We will have to set up a little tour. You up for it Jay?

Sometimes when I'm mowing the lawn, I see a few cobras go by. I'm definitely in. Just let me know when you are coming this way.

Hey Kids:
This Saturday Noreen and I will be taking the snake to Marcus Dairy in Danbury. If anyone is interested in convoying up with us we will be at the rest area at Route 34 and the Merritt at 4:00. The route from there is RT34 to 84W to 7S. The return route will be Route 25 down to the Merritt.
This all assumes that the current forecast of dry sunny weather is accurate.

We intend to get in early and secure a decent spot. I have to bring the rig since we have several customers picking up their cars at Marcus Dairy. So if anyone would like to meet us in the parking lot at the Danbury Fair Mall around 5pm then we can drive in together.
When the carnival is not in town we park the rig in the front parking lot (Backus Ave) right by the Music/Video Store at the intersection (Sugar Hollow Road) you turn for the Dairy.

Bob.
Claire & I might make the run with you. That exit is about 20/30 minutes from me, but is a great route to drive. Gonna try to make it.
