Any interest?

Bob,

I'd love to meet up with you on Sunday but I'm bringing a date and would really like to see her more than just once.

Have you tried RT.109 > 63 > Litchfield?

I'm down for anything although Sunday is probably the better day for me. Does this mean there is no Columbus Circle run this year? I like the sound of the Litchfield/vineyard tour. Hopkins and Lake Waramaug have great Fall views.

Here's a first stab at a route. Start and stop from Jay's place is approximated. You can drag and drop the route to suggest other options.

I would have liked to have gone up Rt. 8 to Great Barrington/Birkshire Mts.

I've heard a few grumblings about the dates due to the holiday weekend. A few guys that really don't want to miss out. But the dates are nice from a logistics standpoint.

I was looking at the Foliage Map (there is such a thing) and if we cross the state border on those dates it will likely be a bunch of bare trees... I think the Barrington run is perfect for mid-summer run and we will get to it.

Todd's route looks pretty good, maybe a little tweak to get more of 8 in there. Rte. 44 is a great drive too.

I'm worried about the picnic "eating" drive time. The daylight hours are already shrinking.

It looks like a fair amount of 3rd and 4th gear stuff to me. The best part of last year's run was the early stuff on Route 8 in the left lane. I hate all the back road stuff. Avoiding 254 to go up 63 makes me think I should bring the Focus and leave the Cobra at home.

The seat on the right side is called the "scream seat" for a reason. Can we get these cars over 40MPH for a little while? Why is it you guys have all this phucking horsepower?

It's not how fast you go, it's how fast you get there. I go just as fast on those back roads as I do on RT.8. Better tires perhaps?

I just threw it out there. Make some suggestions. Makes not a rats a$$ to me.

I'm running Yokos. I gave away the BFGs I took off.

I just don't want to be hitting tons of rough road, stop signs and traffic signals. All it takes is one slow car on some of these back roads and the whole line is doing 30mph. Last year the group came apart on Route 7 due to the never ending construction of that bridge in Lime Rock and a couple of lights. BTW, I went to LRP last week and the bridge is still one lane, and a big delay. Two years now, Connecticut DOT at their best.

Another thought - The Skip Barber Racing School is having one of their race weedends on October 9 & 10 (Friday and Saturday) at LRP. That would make the track grounds available to us if we wanted to drop in and watch a few races and picnic. No admission, parking anywhere on the grounds.

Bob,

Tell us more. What is this event? Open track?... instruction?...will they be "racing"? Didn't see anything on the LRP site but I'll go if there is racing regardless of the cruise.

Here's the link. Racing is for licensed racers (like me) only. If you guys want to raise $4,500 for me I'll do the weekend.

The track and pits have always been open to everyone. It's possible that a few bucks well placed can get one a hot lap or two around the track. A typical Saturday for SBRS is 5 to 6 half hour races. Remember, no admission charge!

I'd also be interested in knowing more on that.
