Look to be three great examples for that auction. Will we be playing guess the sale prices?
 |
I don't know about guess the prices but there is a boatload of replicas mixed in there to.

The owner of CSX3172 would be wise to invest $1,200 in some GY Billboards. Would probably add $30K to the bidding alone.

I almost purchased 2291 in 1969. It was already red with white stripes and in race trim before Bill Jackson purchased it. The car had just been refurbished. The price was $5,000 from a friend in the original cobra club. As I remember he used the money to go to Europe. I had decided to purchase the car for my wife. Then, Bill who had a GT350 decided he wanted it. I backed out since I already had my 427. However, if Bill wouldn't have bought it me and my wife would have.

Autokrafts, what are they going for?
The only thing I don't like about Autokrafts is the dashboard
with its modern look with rocker switches instead of toggles, etc. I saw an article in a British kit car magazine that showed an Autokraft switched back to original Cobra style dash. Has this been done in the U.S. What do you do with all the heater controls, etc? My idea is just to shove them further back under a standard Cobra style dash with Smiths. I remember when they were about $35,000. I guess we will see what they go for now. I think there is a little controversy about how many they made, isn't it something like a little over 100? |
Fascinating. I watched all three of the Cobras being loaded into a transporter a couple of weeks ago. The street 289 is super original. The "private collector" mentioned in the copy has a nondescript building in Woodland Hills CA crammed with all kinds of goodies.
