LAS VEGAS – April 20, 2010 – The board of Carroll Shelby International, Inc. (CSBI:PK) has announced today that production is ramping up for the first shipment of Ford Mustang GT’s, which are in transit to be transformed into Shelby GT350’s at its Shelby American subsidiary in Las Vegas. In addition, the company continues to grow its Shelby Performance Parts division with products for the 2005-2011 Ford Mustang, GT500 and Shelby GT.

“I still show up 50 years later, guiding and directing this great Shelby American team in Las Vegas that you’ve grown to know and trust,” said Carroll Shelby, founder of Shelby American. “I’ve brought in John Luft, who has been president of Shelby Licensing for the past decade. He will be responsible for leveraging these companies in support of the one Shelby brand.”

Over the past six months, Carroll Shelby International introduced Shelby Nation, distributed a new merchandising catalog and built a parts business.

“We’ve retooled our production lines in Las Vegas to focus on the new GT350 and the Super Snake, beefed up our Shelby Performance Parts business and looked for ways to integrate all the units in a more cohesive way,” stated Mr. Luft. “Now that Ford is beginning to turn out the 2011 Mustang GT and GT500, we can’t wait to start putting our latest cars on the road. The future is bright at Shelby American.”

CFO Keith Belair, vice presidents Gary Davis, Gary Patterson and Jim Owens will continue at Shelby American. As well as growing the car business, they will also be responsible for building the newly integrated Shelby Performance Parts company. In addition, a chassis dyno was recently installed at the new “Shelby American Motorsports Speed Shop” at the Las Vegas location. The shop is now open for Shelby performance tuning.

Interesting. And sort of surprising. Amy seemed to be the sort of manager that Shelby would want around after he was gone. His Company would be a better place with people like her running it without his baggage. Amy has always been a stand up person when posting on this site.

There is more to this story than the press release says. Always is.

I thought Amy was "President" of the company? All though I'm a little fuzzy on what a "president" actually does... It's not clear to me that Luft has acquired that position. Perhaps they won't fill that position, or they are looking to in the near future? Luft's specialty is marketing, that primarily is what his whole career has been about. As a specialist in marketing he would be a good fit with the new emphasis being on the "parts" division. I suspect there is more money and a longer future in selling "up-grade kits" with a Shelby name than there is in selling GT-350's or Super Snakes (espcially in view of the current financial mess were in).

There are some models that Shelby modifies "post purchase" but I'm pretty sure the new GT-350 is an all out Shelby product and you buy it that way. Just like you would buy a Saleen, right off the show room floor.

Did any of you read the article in the June issue of Hot Rod Magazine about the 1967 Shelby Mustang Recreations that will be coming out. Price starts at $119K and goes up to $200K if the article is correct. He is having some company build them for him and they were talking about the success he had with the old Cobras that he had built from frames and parts he had in storage. From the picture it looked as if they had taken a 1967 Mustang and added the Shelby stuff to it, plus they have replaced the engine with a new one like the GT-500s have in them. But this shouldn't be quite the same as the trying to pass off those Cobras as 1965s since the Mustangs are real and were registered as 1967s.

Ron, seems to me that is a "new" company that has acquired a Shelby license for marketing purposes. No doubt Luft would have been the one who made the deal, by the way. Anyone can buy a license deal from Shelby and use the name, for whatever product you want to sell. Like say, an SPF. Use of the name doesn't necessarily change the product or make it better in some way, it is what it is and carries a "brand name". Many folks see value in that.

I wonder how many of the players from the old "Unique" are involved with the "new" company, by the way... The name has changed, have the players?

I hear ACORN has recently changed it's name in many cities and areas as well. Business as usual, same players, same marketing, new name.
That was NOT a political point, just a comparison of how companies change and remain the same.

This sounds like the licensing deal they did a couple of years ago with the Texas company to do "Eleanors". As I recall customers put up $. Didn't get cars. I think the Texas company went TU. People got sued. I don't remember it all.

There wasn't a lot of information about the new 1967 Mustangs, but I think I saw in another place they would be included in the registry. That just doesn't seem right to me as they are just 1967 Mustangs that Shelby is having this company build for him and he is having them built to his specifications.

Also on the same page is a small article about Ford SVT and Shelby releasing a new GT-500 for 2011. But remember this is from Hot Rod and some times they tend to not get all of the facts correct. Such as their failing to mention that the continuation Cobras were illegal in California. I believe you can bring them in now if you get a SB-100 number for them.

Are they real or are they new Dynacorn bodies with "real" titles. Or, with Ford's assets, are they allowed to make new ones and title them as whatever? Maybe Ford had some old serial #'s they never used ,LOL.

IF Shelby is in fact going to be the "one" marketing these new "Eleanors" (now called a different name) then that is somewhat different than the old agreement he had with the Texas folks. All though Shelby WAS intimately involved with the Texas folks he was not so much involved in the actual marketing of the product, other than using his name.

With this new group he may or may not take a more active roll in both the manufacture and marketing of the product. I don't know of anybody that is making a "new" Mustang body like is available for the Camaro. Therefore I suspect these will be genuine "real" Mustangs convertions.

I don't think the old completion series Cobras (old frames found in a wharehouse) can ever be licensed in California under ANY method ANY time in the future.

Did some research on these guys, the company, "Classic Recreations", has been around for years building various custom cars and recently signed a deal with Shelby.

Classic Recreations is simply another build shop that is making restomod'd Mustangs...just like Unique Performance, before their untimely demise.

They are being built, like Unique, under Shelby License. SA has nothing to do with the construction or the sale of the car

So,,, if anybody (Werks?) hears anything about how Amy is doing, please update the thread if it's OK to do so in a public forum. Sometimes these things can get a little messy. I, for one, certainly wish Amy the best!

On another note, I find it a little disturbing that Classic Recreations is referring to their licensed and modified Mustang as a "real Shelby", just seems like a bit of a stretch.

Nope,wrong, for the new GT350 project, the owner/customer buys a new Mustang GT and then he sends it to Shelby, there it is then transformed into a GT 350, then the owner pays Shelby for the modifications, something on the order of 35k.......

Ex,
Dynacorn, as mentioned above is making the shells for Mustangs as well. http://www.dynacornclassicbodies.com/Ford_Models2.html I considered one for a little while and do basically a resto mod, with modern everything other than body. I actually debate a 69 FB body vs a Cobra build. I love the 69 Mustang.

Well David, lets review. The new Shelbys are done "post title", pretty much the same way they were done in 1965. This time it's Vegas, it's still white, there is no other color option.

Classic Recreations is not using after market bodies.

Those Dynacorn bodies must come with an MSO, like a replica, because they have no Vin.
