Rick and gang,
I have the details!
Bill Dyer was tasked with bringing the vendors to the show....and along with the vendors...he scored a generous contibution made by Classic Roadsters.
The car is a
Classic Roadsters II Classic 427!
The winning raffle ticket gets all 3 phases (I,II, and III)
The value is over $12,000!
The London Cobra Show web site is getting set-up to accept paypal to make ticket purchasing easy. The raffle tickets are $50 ea.
You can also use paypal to make donations and to pay your registration fees as well.
Any other vendors what to contribute? How about an engine to help complete this package? If so, please contact one of the show volunteers.
we'll keep posting more details as they develop.
Sincerely,
Rob

I am amazed that Classic Roadster would donate another car !!!! Don Scott is an amazing fellow. This will be the second car donated by Classic Roadster ( I know different ownership) but what is the matter with all the other manufacturers (except the Kirkhams and Factory Five)? I think they should step up to the plate after all, there are two "events" now that need raffle vehicles.

It never ceases to amaze me how willing someone is to spend someone else's money... Now you want someone to "step up to the plate" and donate another car.. Why don't YOU buy a kit and raffle it off.

That's great, but what happened to the idea of just a simple get-together? Just an honest question..............

Casaleenie
I could care less if anyone donates a car or anything else for that matter. I am not trying to spent anyones elses money.
You missed my point altogether. The point that I was trying to make was that the other manufacturers are making as much or more money off of cobra enthusiasts as CR, but CR has donated twice, the others zero.
Before you put both feet in with your knee jerk reactions, maybe you should inquire as to some one's intentions.

The car was sold to the London Group, at cost, by Don. This is pretty typical for many raffles, and a fair solution for all involved. The Las Vegas CSX car "raffle for charity" is a similiar deal.

A little clarification; Don is SELLING the raffle car to the show at cost, not DONATING it.
His post to that effect is
here

Except for the Kirkham car, weren't all the raffle cars purchased from someone in the past? I thought the first year DV sold a car in a box Jay won. Last year he sold his completed car to the raffle.
Then there was the Kirkham car that was a pure donation as far as I know. Was there a 4th. car?

Thanks.
That was an outright pure donation with 100% of the proceeds going to charity. Correct?
That's the one Tony Ripepi won, if I remember right.

Still is! A number of people wanted a raffle car and since Don Scott was generious enough to offer one at cost it seemed like a no loose proposition. The guys are still working on other things people have requested. It is of course always a fine balance between keeping it simple and loosing the scope. I just want to have a good time and want the same for every one else. Of course, I will be buying some raffle tickets!!

I can't remember which thread I meant to say this in but this one is as good as any.........
the London Cobra Show is about the people who attend. It is what is being asked for with in our limited abilities!
I want to go to an event, see my buds, have some fun, do some cool stuff, cruise around together, hang out, you name it.
There is no one person organizing it, it is everybody. Everyone has a say, simple majority rules.
CAN'T WAIT!!

I agree with Rick.
I believe there are people who can not express themselves in text. Subsequently they are miss-understood.
So, to be clear, I am going to meet cobra people.

Don,
You're the greatest ! I think it's terrific that you help out by selling a car at cost to benefit CF. I personally will continue to recommend your products to any and all I can. I've seen most of what you manufacture and it is a quality product. I remember at the DVSF I that there were a significant number of your Cobras there. I also want to buy you a cold beverage of your choice when we meet in London.
I will be driving to London for the fifth time this year and I will have my good friend Bernie Knight as my co-pilot for the 2200 mile trip. I want him to enjoy the sights and stops along the way but mostly I want him to see London and expierence the good folks there and how really special a place it is.
It's a long 18,000 miles for Bernie but I'm sure it will be worth it.
On the return to Phoenix we plan on stopping and visiting as many neat places that we can. We will probably stop at the Indy track, then the Route 66 museum perhaps. Whatever we see that looks interesting we'll stop.
Hersh
