Default Street being named for Dave MacDonald!

At the third annual AIRPS celebration on September 9th at the former Augusta International Raceway a street will be named for Dave MacDonald who won here in Augusta on March 1, 1964 driving a King Cobra and placed second in Cobra CSX2259. We are trying to locate the owner of CSX2259 and extend an invitation for the Cobra to be present at the street dedication.

If anyone has contact information please send me a PM or have the owner contact me directly.

Any Cobras in the Southeast that can make the event are certainly welcomed.

The MacDonald family will be present for this street dedication and additional information can be found at: www.augustainternationalraceway.com or www.augustavintagenationals.com .

Thanks,
Henry

I believe CSX2259 is owned by Lynn Park in La Canada, CA.

Thanks so much. I will contact Mr. Park and let everyone know if the car is available for the street dedication.

Dave MacDonald Driver is under construction.

Behind Mike you can see the banking from the former road circuit. The paved section leads to the front straight that has been repaved and is the main entrance into Diamond Lakes Regional Park.

Mike is holding a piece of the former garage floor as Dave MacDonald Drive is located over the former garage where his Cobra's were parked. A larger section of the garage floor now forms the patio at the Monument that is located 100 feet from where these photographs were taken.

The Dave MacDonald Street dedication will take place at 1:00 PM but any Cobras that want to "cruise in" for display must be in place by 10:00 AM.

Souvenir street signs have been made for the MacDonald and Roberts family to keep. Sorry, but these are reflective and the flash turned the white letters dark. Trust me they are white!

I used to live in Augusta and always thought it was a shame that the track died. I wanted to see it revived, but that was a pipe dream...

Latest photograph of Dave MacDonald Drive.

Just beyond the tree line is the former track and AIR Memorial Plaza.

Street signs are being erected throughout the new development.

Dave MacDonald Drive is the main street through this large new sub division next to the former track and at one point Dave "meets" himself.

This will be a popular place for Cobra owners and their cameras.

I am betting this group can put 20 or so Cobras on Dave MacDonald Drive for a photo session!

If any clubs are interested in a section of the display area let me know:

Our non-profit organization was able to raise enough funds to increase the size of monument that sits 100 yards from Dave MacDonald Drive. Over one hundred additional driver names were added (Dave appears three times on the memorial).

When you are cleaning up the Cobra and run across those quarters and dimes please send them to us for the next planned expansion. Heck, you can tax deduct the coins.

Thanks to all for allowing me to keep you informed.

This is now officially in place about 100 yards from Dave MacDonald Drive:
